An optical splitter/coupler may be disposed at a subscriber network access location to provide primary and back-up service to the subscriber network access location. The optical splitter/coupler includes first and second optical fibers that are optically coupled to a third optical fiber. The first and second optical fibers of the optical splitter/coupler are optically coupled to a service provider location. The third optical fiber is optically coupled to the subscriber network access location.

Fiber optic wall plate with redundancy system

A module includes a plurality of splitters, a plurality of inputs, and a plurality of outputs wherein the outputs are connected to multi-fiber connectors and wherein outputs from a plurality of splitters are connected to one of the multi-fiber connectors. The splitters have outputs in multiples of eight, such as a 1&#xd7;32 splitter. The multi-fiber connectors include twelve fiber cables.

High density splitter aggregation module

A method of terminating a fiber in a connector using a device comprising: (a) positioning a stripped fiber on the device such that the bare fiber portion extends into a first fiber channel of a cleaver; (b) securing the fiber to a fiber retainer slidably attached to the substrate to move along an x axis at a first position; (c) cleaving the bare fiber portion to form a cleaved end; (d) sliding the fiber retainer away from the cleaver along the x axis; (e) causing to be presented a second fiber channel of a connector held in a connector retainer along the x axis; (f) sliding the fiber retainer to the first position along the x axis, thereby causing the cleaved end to extend into the second fiber channel; and (g) actuating the connector while the fiber retainer is at the first position.

Field terminating method and device

A duplex fiber optic splice has a fiber-receiving element, two clamping elements covering opposite faces of the fiber-receiving element, and a spring element. A bearing key may be inserted into a bearing channel in the fiber-receiving element and rotated resulting in resilient disengagement of each of said clamping faces from said fiber-receiving element face. The resilient disengagement of the clamping elements are independent of each other. The splice assembly may be used alone or in conjunction with an array ferrule, pre-terminated with a fiber stub, and a housing to provide an adhesiveless field terminable connector.

Multiple fiber splice element and connector

A fiber optic splice assembly comprising: (a) a fiber-receiving element having opposite faces, first and second ends, and first and second sides, each the face having at least one elongate fiber channel and an elongate bearing channel, (b) two clamping elements, each the clamping element having a clamping face and an opposite spring face, first and second sides, the clamping elements covering at least a portion of each elongate fiber and bearing channel, and (c) a splice spring for imparting opposing normal forces on the spring faces of the clamping elements and along the first side of the fiber-receiving element, the spring permitting independent resilient disengagement of each the clamping faces from the fiber-receiving element face.
