Physical access to secure areas is automatically performed based on presence or detection of a wireless device. A unique identifier of a wireless cellular device, for example, may be pre-authorized for occupants, employees, and tenants of a building. Contractors and vendors may also have their wireless cellular devices pre-approved for access. When the wireless cellular device is detected by a network serving the secure area, its unique identifier may be compared to databases or lists of approved cellular devices. Physical access may thus be automatically granted, based on possession of a recognized cellular device.

Automatic physical access

Physical space is allocated to members of a group to maximize collaborative efforts. Each member of the group is determined based on presence or detection of a wireless device. As the members of the group are wirelessly detected, physical space may be assigned based on historical usage, calendar entries, physical needs, and infrastructure traits. Desks, office space, conference rooms, and other facilities may thus be dynamically reserved to maximize collaboration and yet efficiently utilize existing physical spaces.

Automatic allocation of physical facilities

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method in which a processing system obtains data regarding location and trajectory of a prospective advertising viewer, and monitoring the activity and physical environment of the viewer. The method also includes predicting a future condition of the viewer, and predicting a time, location and duration of an exposure of the viewer to an advertising display, in order to define an advertising placement window. The method also includes predicting a level of viewer attention to the advertising display while within the placement window. The method further includes predicting an effectiveness of advertising content exposure to the viewer, based on the advertising content and the predicted attention level; offering an ad placement in the advertising placement window to an advertising entity; and placing an advertisement provided by the advertising entity in accordance with the advertising placement window. Locational tracking aids emergency management plans. Occupants of a building or campus are determined based on presence or detection of wireless devices. When an emergency occurs, the occupants may move to safety based on the current locations of their wireless devices.

Automatic allocation of physical facilities for maximum collaboration

Physical access to secure areas is automatically performed based on presence or detection of a wireless device. When a wireless cellular device is detected by a network serving a secure building, a unique identifier of the wireless cellular device is obtained. The identifier of the wireless cellular device may be compared to electronic calendars. If a matching calendar entry is determined, then the wireless cellular device is calendared to meet an employee or tenant inside the building. Physical access may thus be automatically granted, based on possession of a recognized cellular device.

A controller for use in a supplemental response system can include an initiation module that receives a communication from a primary response system. The controller can also include an interpretation module that receives the communication from the initiation module and that interprets the communication to determine a description of attention required by the source. The controller can further include a locating module that identifies a target region based on the first location of the source, and that identifies the supplemental responding entity at a second location within the target region based on the description of the attention required by the source. The controller can also include a communication module that transmits a request to a communication system of the supplemental responding entity at the second location within the target region.

A method includes receiving, at a multimedia device, a data stream representing multimedia content, the data stream comprising first timing information for the multimedia content, and metadata representing interactive event information associated with the multimedia content, the metadata comprising second timing information for the interactive event information. During the playback of the multimedia content, a first user interactive event is identified that is associated with a first time point in the playback of the multimedia content based on the interactive event information, and the first user interactive event is performed concurrent with the first time point in the playback of the multimedia content.
