A communications hub providing a repository of vehicle crash information communicated by a mobile communications device and of vehicle crash data records provided by crash event servicers, in a crash detection, response and reporting system that determines a possible crash event by periodically evaluating (a) changes in a motion signal and (b) crash sound indicators of one or more of (i) motor vehicle glass breakage, (ii) metal folding, (iii) contact thud, and (iv) tires screeching, and upon a failure to respond within a predetermined period to a notice of possible crash event, communicating an identifier and crash incident information to a dispatch center as first notice of loss for dispatching a response servicer and maintaining the repository to facilitate resolution of the claims arising from the vehicle crash event.

Communications hub for crash event detection, response, and reporting system

An actuation system used to actuate two buttons on a remote control device, such as a key fob, based upon commands that are generated from a mobile device. The actuation system includes an outer housing that defines an isolation enclosure. The actuation system includes a support frame that allows the vertical position of the button actuator to be manually adjusted. The lateral and longitudinal position of the actuator can also be manually adjusted, as can the distance between a pair of actuator tips. The controller receives the command signals from the mobile device and converts the command signals into actuation commands that are used to activate a servo motor to move the one of two actuation tips into contact with one of the buttons of the key fob. The system includes a RF receiver and transmitter to communicate a vehicle command signal for receipt by the vehicle.

Two button remote control actuator

An actuation system used to actuate one or more buttons on a remote control device, such as a key fob, based upon commands that are generated from a mobile device. The actuation system includes a key fob enclosure located remotely from the vehicle. When a command is received on the mobile device, the command is relayed to a controller within the key fob enclosure, causing a button on the key fob to be depressed. The RF signal from the key fob is translated into a digital message which is relayed to a proxy remote located within the vehicle. The proxy remote, in turn, translates the digital message to an RF signal which is transmitted and received by systems within the vehicle. In this manner, the proxy remote is able to communicate using RF signals with the vehicle without requiring the key fob to be located near the vehicle.

An actuation system used to actuate one or more buttons on a remote control device, such as a key fob of a vehicle, based upon commands generated from a mobile device, such as a smartphone. The actuation system includes a key fob drawer that defines an isolation enclosure that prevents RF signals from entering into or leaving the isolation enclosure. A controller receives the command signals from the mobile device and converts the command signals into position commands that are used to activate a button actuator to move a plunger into alignment with one of the buttons on the key fob. The button actuator moves the plunger into contact with one of the buttons which generates an RF signal from the key fob. The key fob is contained in the isolation enclosure and the system includes a RF receiver and transmitter to re-transmit vehicle command signal for receipt by the vehicle.

A crash detection system with a mobile communications device configured for periodically interrogating (a) a motion signal to determine whether a change in motion (acceleration or angular rotation) exceeds a predetermined motion threshold and (b) a sound signal to determine whether a sequence of sensed sound signals within a predetermined period matches crash sound indicators of (i) glass breakage and (ii) metal folding, displaying selectable options upon detection of a crash incident, and upon a failure to select within a predetermined period, communicating an identifier and crash incident information dispatch center for dispatching a response servicer.

Crash event detection, response and reporting apparatus and method

An OBD module for communicating with a vehicle radio/infotainment system. The OBD module includes a controller, a data bus interface that is configured to draw power from and electronically communicate with a vehicle OBD-II data port and a digital interface connector. The OBD module can be formed from two separate components, including a transceiver module and an interface module, that are in communication with each other. The transceiver module can be located remotely from the interface module. The OBD module can include a graphic equalizer to enhance the sound quality of the input source. The OBD module can also be configured to interrupt playback to play a substitute message as is desired.

Connected vehicle system with infotainment interface for mobile devices

A self-powered wireless fuse switch is disclosed that is a plug-in replacement for a fuse found in the electrical system of vehicles. The self-powered wireless fuse adds remote-controlled switching capabilities for short and long-range control of power to subsystems of a vehicle electrical system. The wireless fuse switch includes a wireless control module having an internal power supply and an internal transceiver that receives commands from a remote control unit. A separate fuse module includes an outer housing and fuse blades that extend from the outer housing and interface with a fuse socket of the vehicle to selectively allow or interrupt power from the vehicle to the subsystem of the vehicle electrical system. The fuse module includes a fusible link, a relay controller and a relay in the outer housing. The fuse module receives power from and communicates with the wireless control module.

The button actuator moves the plunger into contact with one of the buttons which generates an RF signal from the key fob. The controller utilizes a transmitting antenna to communicate a vehicle command signal out of the isolation enclosure for receipt by the vehicle.

A self-powered wireless fuse switch is disclosed that is a plug-in replacement for a fuse found in the electrical system of vehicles. The self-powered wireless fuse adds remote-controlled switching capabilities for short and long-range control of power to subsystems of a vehicle electrical system. The wireless fuse switch includes an internal transceiver that receives commands from a remote control unit and controls the position of an internal relay. The wireless control module interfaces with a fuse socket of the vehicle to selectively allow or interrupt power from the vehicle to the subsystem of the vehicle electrical system. The wireless fuse switch includes either a two-blade or three-blade harness assembly that allows the wireless fuse switch to be received within the fuse socket of the vehicle.

A device that can house a remote control for activating or controlling one or more features or functions of a vehicle. The device securely holds the remote control and upon reception of a command, operates to control a boom, actuator and pin such that the pin is moved over a particular button of the remote control, and then pressed for a requested period of time. A serious of commands or complex commands can result in causing multiple pressing patterns of the various buttons of the remote control. Thus, the features or functions of the vehicle can be activated remotely.
