A walker adapted for attachment to a wheelchair may be used to assist a user with walking while retaining the wheelchair in close proximity behind the user for use when the user needs to sit. The walker may be removably attached to the frame of the wheelchair for easy exchange of use from one wheelchair to another. A pivotable, removably attachable gate between two lateral frame members may allow for the walker to be manipulated from a walking position to a stored position. The gate may include an extendable width to allow for use with wheelchairs of different widths. A frame of the walker may be extendably attached to the wheelchair, thereby allowing the user to extend and retract the walker between the walking position and the stored position.

A moisture pad includes a porous pad, for example a sponge, and a container divided into a water reservoir and a compartment for securely supporting the porous pad. The reservoir has a filling opening provided with a closure. The closure includes a flexible dome that can be pressed to pressurize the contents of the reservoir. One-way valves regulate the flow of fluids between the reservoir and the porous pad compartment. Optionally, a lid may be provided as a closure for the container to reduce evaporation of the water. As another option, a strap can be provided for the container to allow the moisture pad to be worn on a person's body.

Moisture pad

A wound closure device for closing a surgical wound includes at least one compressive clip for applying pressure to a patient's tissue. The clip includes a first clamping arm, a second clamping arm, and a flexible pin maintained between the first and second clamping arms in a press-fit relationship. Each of the first and second clamping arms has a proximal first end, an opposing distal second end and a sidewall extending therebetween. The clip has a first position in which the proximal first ends of the first and second clamping arms partially engage or do not engage each other and a second position in which the proximal first ends of the first and second clamping arms pivotally engage each other. In the second position of the clip, a compressive force generated at the proximal first ends is transferred through the first and second clamping arms to the distal second ends.

This disclosure relates to suture passer guides and related kits and methods. In certain aspects, a suture passer guide includes an elongate member and a suture positioning member that can be radially extended from a distal end region of the elongate member and rotated relative to the elongate member such that the suture positioning member can reposition a suture from a first side area of the elongate member to a second side area of the elongate member.

An applicator for use in cleaning surfaces, comprising: a bottom surface; a handle disposed above the bottom surface; means for releasably attaching a pad to the bottom surface; and an actuator, accessible from the handle, for actuating the means for releasably attaching the pad to the bottom surface. The means for releasably attaching preferably has a plurality of feet which move between a first position within the applicator to a second position outside the applicator. When the feet are in the second position they can contact a cleaning pad. The feet include means (such as a hook-and-loop fastener) for gripping the cleaning pad, so that when the feet are in the second position, which is the at-rest position, they grip the cleaning pad. When the feet are moved to the first position, they release the pad, allowing for the disposal thereof without having to touch the soiled pad.

Disclosed are medical probe devices and methods for use guiding of percutaneous probes during medical procedures. The probe devices include a clamp that can secure a probe at a targeted location. The devices can be utilized to guide a probe through the probe guide to a percutaneous target. Disclosed clamps can be utilized on probe devices incorporating an ultrasound transducer. In addition, the devices can include a sterilizable shield including a sterile probe guide for use in procedures requiring a sterile field. The sterilizable shield can be a single-use shield that can prevent contamination and re-use of the shield. The devices can define a beneficial geometry conducive to use by a single operator that can be utilized for percutaneous targets near the skin surface.

An oral care implement includes a head and a plurality of cleaning elements for enhanced cleaning of the teeth and soft tissue of the oral cavity. One tooth cleaning element has a plurality of bristles adapted to clean teeth. Another cleaning element is connected to the head and has structure defining a channel. The channel is configured to direct fluid in contact with the head toward an edge of the head when the implement is moved. The head also defines a reservoir that is configured to receive a dentifrice therein.

A scalpel shield system for a scalpel that has a handle and a blade with a sharp cutting edge. The system is mountable on the scalpel and provided with a blade guard member having a pivot component engagable with a pivot component on the blade or the handle. The blade guard member is manually pivotable relative to the scalpel between a guard position for preventing injury by the sharp cutting edge and a retracted position for exposing the sharp cutting edge.

A lids for a child's drinking cup has a projection extending integrally from an underside of the lid, the projection defining, in an upper surface of the lid body, a straw receptacle. The projection defines a plurality of break lines, such as slits, terminating at break line ends and defining separable segments of the projection. The break line ends are spaced from the base of the projection in a region of the straw receptacle having a cross-section approximately equal in extent to a cross-section of a corresponding drinking straw, such that inserting the straw into the straw receptacle and through the projection forces the projection segments apart, the segment bases engaging an outer surface of the inserted straw to inhibit leakage. Some of the projections include molded stiffening ribs.

A medical device is provided and includes a thermal ablation catheter and a deployable cage assembly for use in thermal ablation therapy. The deployable cage assembly includes a plurality of arms, each of which has a pair of opposed ends attached to the thermal ablation catheter. Each of the arms is movable from a relaxed configuration to a deployed configuration. When relaxed, the arms are substantially proximate to the thermal ablation catheter. When deployed, the arms cooperate with each other to form an open structure which extends radially outward from the thermal ablation catheter. The thermal ablation device also includes a distensible bladder that serves as an endocervical seal.

A splash guard is provided for a food mixer, such as a hand-held mixer or a stand mixer, comprising a wavy, plate-like member that is adapted to cover the opening of a mixing bowl. The splash guard is secured to the mixer by portions of the splash guard that mate with the sides of the mixer body. More particularly, the splash guard has mutually-opposed flanges that are received in outwardly-open, longitudinally-extending grooves formed in the sides of the mixer body. The grooves in the mixer body can be specially provided for mounting the splash guard or they can be formed in a conventional manner at the junction of two body parts secured together to form the mixer body. The splash guard includes a transverse retainer strap that gives rigidity to the splash guard structure. Snap-fitting and sliding methods of assembling the splash guard onto the mixer body are also disclosed.
