A jar opener including a lid clamp adapted to clamp onto a lid of a jar; a motor connected to the lid clamp; and a frame having the motor connected thereto. The frame includes at least three frame sections which are vertically slidingly connected relative to one another in series in a general telescoping fashion. The motor is connected to a top one of the frame sections.

A retractable leash includes an integral light. The apparatus has a first housing section and a retractable leash section. The first housing section has a handle, a light connected to top front portion of the first housing section and a receiving area. A rechargeable battery is removably connected to the first housing in the handle. The retractable leash section has a second housing section pivotably mounted to the first housing section, in the receiving area, and a reel rotatably mounted to the second housing section. A leash is connected to the reel for extension and retraction relative to the first housing section. In an alternate embodiment, a light is located on the leash and electrically connected to a conductor extending along the leash.

Combined retractable leash and flashlight

An apparatus having a retractable leash and an integral light. The apparatus has a first housing section and a retractable leash section. The first housing section has a handle, a light connected to top front portion of the first housing section and a receiving area. A rechargeable battery is removably connected to the first housing in the handle. A flashlight with a power supply end, an illumination end, a flexible neck and a slideable rigid sleeve. The sleeve is movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The retracted position comprises the sleeve being located on the power supply end away from the flexible neck such that the neck can be flexed to reposition the illumination end relative to the power supply end. The extended position comprises the sleeve extending over the flexible neck between the power supply end and the illumination end to prevent the neck from bending. This prevents the illumination end from being repositioned relative to the power supply end.

A food steamer having a base, a combined support and collector, and a cooking bowl. The base has a heater and a reservoir for holding water to be heated into steam. The cooking bowl is mounted on top of the base and has a bottom with holes. The combined support and collector has a frame and a screen. The frame is mounted to the base between the heater and the cooking bowl. The frame has a center aperture with the screen located therein for supporting flavoring items thereon. The frame has raised walls to form a condensed steam holding area for holding all condensed steam that has traveled into and then back out of the holes in the cooking bowl. The frame also has a side wall with inwardly recessed grooves and holes through the frame at the tops of the grooves. These form pressure release vents at the sides of the frame.

A hand-held vacuum cleaner includes a housing, a source of vacuum, a hose removably connected to an intake section of the housing, a rotatably driven brush located at the intake section, and a system to automatically stop the brush from being driven when the hose is disconnected from the intake section. The hose is located on an exterior of the housing and connects the intake section to the source of vacuum. The hose is flexible and expandable with a relatively compact, free-standing, curved shape when connected between the intake section and the source of vacuum, but can be expanded in general accordion-like fashion when the hose is removed from the intake section to expand to about four times its compact length. The system to automatically stop the brush can also automatically reengage driving of the brush when the hose is reconnected to the intake section.
