An apparatus for rapidly and simultaneously, coupling and uncoupling loom heald frames, of varying length, to and from their respective drive bell cranks. Each heald frame attaches to more than one head of a flexible tie-rod, which in turn, extends down to adjustment sliders which are connected to the drive bell cranks. During the heald frame coupling and uncoupling from a locking apparatus at the head of the flexible tie-rod, two tilting jaws keep all of the flexible tie-rods in a rigid vertical position.

An electromagnet-striker bar system for the control device of a rotary dobby includes an amagnetic container having an extremely rigid box structure into which the iron cores of the electromagnets are equidistantly inserted and irreversibly locked. Amagnetic spools for supporting the electrical windings are mounted on electromagnetic pole pieces. The container is provided, in that side further from the hinging axis of said striker bars, with a longitudinal groove into which are inserted the amagnetic support and slide shoulders for the free ends of the striker bars. The free ends of the striker bars are hardened by heat treatment.

A control system for a plurality of tuck-in selvedge forming devices in a loom having a variable reed beat-up position includes a main shaft, a drive shaft connected to all the tuck-in selvedge forming devices, a modulator driven by the main shaft and having an output shaft which pauses at least once during each revolution of the main shaft, as well as a coupling unit rotatable with the drive shaft and operative to be selectively rotatably coupled to the modulator output shaft so that the drive shaft is driven by the main shaft. The coupling unit includes a ring fixed to the drive shaft and a first cover pivoted to the ring so that a key can enter into the recess of the modulator output shaft to rotatably couple the coupling unit to the modulator output shaft during its pauses. A second lever is biased so as to follow contours of a control cam and prevent the first key from entering the recess of the modulator output shaft. An electromagnet controlled by a logic unit cooperates with the second lever to prevent the second lever from engaging the first lever.

An adjustable connection link is provided between the dobby and the first crank lever of the control rods of each loom heddle frame. The connection link consists of two tubular bars of hollow aluminum alloy section pieces, preferably of rectangular cross-section. There is at least one internal rib that is perpendicular to the major sides of the rectangle. The section pieces, moreover, are cut away along opposing sides at their adjacent ends in order to expose the corresponding parts of their internal ribs. These are kept pressed, one against the other, in an adjustable position by a bolt. The bolt is threaded into one end of the section piece and passes through a slotted hole in the corresponding end of the other section piece.

An automatic control system for an electronic rotary dobby, has a pair of permanent magnets mounted on each of the corresponding rocker members. These members are driven by the dobby operating crank arms, such as the ends of the main levers. The magnets on the pair mounted on the rocker members are arranged such that in one end-of-rock position of the respective rocker member only one magnet cooperates with a related fixed sensor, and in the other end-of-rock position of the respective rocker member only one magnet cooperates with another related fixed sensor, and in the other end-of-rock position only the other magnet of the pair cooperates with its own fixed sensor. The sensor signals are compared with the corresponding signals of the predetermined weaving program, the loom being halted if they do not coincide.

A high-speed rotary dobby key mover mechanism having a main crank arm in which two keying levers that have the same arm ratio are mounted for pivotal movement on a cam in opposing positions. The adjacent ends of the keying levers cooperate with a key, while the free other ends of the key levers, which are diametrically opposite about and at the same distance from the axis of the dobby drive shaft for the dobby cooperate alternately with a single control device which is located on only one side of the main crank arm. The control device is regulated, moreover, by a logic unit.

A fully or partly filled roller bearing of very small axial dimension and high loading capacity, in which the rollers are retained between two cylindrical guide and rolling tracks of an inner race and outer race of the bearing by at least one small-thickness lateral shoulder-forming ring with its inner edge of frusto-conical shape. The ring, after being expanded preferably by heating, is inserted into a corresponding annular housing groove provided in an edge of the bearing inner race. The groove has a wall of frusto-conical shape flared towards the interior of the race and a mouth of diameter slightly greater than the minimum diameter of said lateral shoulder-forming ring.

A control device for rotary dobbies in which a key has a transverse groove of width equal to the thickness of a control ring with which it cooperates plus the length of travel undergone by the key in its insertion into or withdrawal from radial grooves in a big end of a main crank arm or in a drive shaft. The control ring has an elliptical shape and is fixed onto a operating lever which, pivoted on a minor axis of an ellipse and retained in its rest position by a V-shaped spring, is made to rock to one side or the other about the axis of symmetry of the spring by a pusher rod. The pusher arm is operated by a cam mechanism and moved by a needle selector controlled by a programmer, to act on one of two valleys provided in a rocking sector on an operating lever symmetrically about an axis of symmetry.

A compact diffuser for high-power gas turbines, comprising a first diffusion section of substantially axial path defined by two conical coaxial walls, followed by a double curved diffuser with three walls, of which the intermediate wall is cantilever-supported by a set of aerodynamically profiled ribs disposed horizontally and situated near the exit of said double curved diffuser. The diffuser is connected to the turbine exhaust casing by an envelope internal to said exhaust casing and having its contours smoothly joined to the diffuser.

A main lever for a high-speed rotary dobby having two opposing sidepieces in which two corresponding opposing frusto-conically flared holes are formed in each side piece by pressing or milling for a removable main pin for coupling the lever to the dobby crank arm. Two inner annular recesses concentric with the holes are also formed for housing a bearing of increased axial length. The sidepieces are joined together without welding by a special annular spacer hub acting as the fulcrum for the lever and, at the free end of the curved guide for the slider which adjusts the travel of the heddle frames, by a spacing and vibration-damping block. The slider passes between the two sidepieces in the curved guide zone and is locked in position by a special locking device. Lever modifications and special reinforcements are also provided.

A method for forming a roller bearing of very small axial dimension and high load-carrying capacity, and applicable also to a large-diameter roller bearing, comprising inserting the rollers into the circumferential guide and rolling track of the outer race and holding the rollers in position by two opposing lateral shoulder-forming spring rings of small thickness which are snap-inserted into corresponding inwardly flared grooves provided in the opposing faces of the bearing outer race. The rings being locked in position by using suitable dies to axially press annular appendices which define the mouth of the annular grooves. Modifications to this method are provided, and the roller bearings obtained in accordance with the invention are described.

Method for forming very small axial dimension high load-carrying

A modulator for controlling high-speed rotary dobbies of the type which control the dobby main shaft's motion by transmitting power from a drive shaft through pivotable rocker supports rotatably driven by the drive shaft and engaging conjugate cams so that the drive shaft's uniform rotary motion is converted into non-uniform motion of the dobby main shaft. This is caused by the conjugate cams, which cause the rocker supports to pivot. The rocker supports are mounted so as to accommodate this rocking. The two rocker supports are connected to the dobby main shaft by two connecting rods hinged by pins on one of the rocker supports and on an appendix of the main shaft respectively, these connecting rods being disposed antisymmetrically to each other in accordance with a particular geometry.
