A switch actuator device is disclosed. The switch actuator device includes a switch housing, a body having a first and second arm, and a resilient member having a first and second end. The first and second ends of the resilient member are configured to be coupled to the body and switch housing, respectively. The resilient member exerts a first force on the body when the body is at a first position, a second force when the body is at a second position, and a third force when the body is at a threshold position. When the body is rotated about a pivot point from the first to second position, or vice versa, the respective first or second force increases in magnitude and acts on the body to first resist the rotation until the body is in the threshold position, and then assists the rotation.

Universal box system

A universal electrical box which includes a body having at least one opening for receiving an electrical device. The device can also include at least one mounting bracket coupled to the body, and at least one frame configured to be coupled to the at least one body. In addition there is at least one duplex electrical mounting plate configured to couple to the at least one frame. In this case, the duplex electrical mounting plate is configured to revive a duplex electrical device. In addition, there is at least one sealing gasket configured to be coupled to the body between the at least one frame and the body. This design allows for a universal configuration which allows for multiple different types of electrical devices to be coupled to the enclosure.

A universal electrical box which includes a body having at least one opening for receiving an electrical device. The device can also include at least one mounting bracket coupled to the body, and at least one frame configured to be coupled to the at least one body. In addition there is at least one duplex electrical mounting plate configured to couple to the at least one frame. In this case, the duplex electrical mounting plate is configured to receive a duplex electrical device. In addition, there is at least one sealing gasket configured to be coupled to the body between the at least one frame and the body. This design allows for a universal configuration which allows for multiple different types of electrical devices to be coupled to the enclosure.

A tamper-resistant electrical receptacle includes a cover defining a set of cover apertures; and a slider defining an aperture therein and being movable between a first position blocking the set of cover apertures and a second position not blocking the set of cover apertures, wherein when an object probes at least one and fewer than all of the set of cover apertures, the slider is constrained in the first position. When a set of prongs is inserted simultaneously through the set of cover apertures, the prongs contact a slider surface that is oriented substantially orthogonal to a longitudinal axis of the set of prongs such that the slider is urged from the first to the second position. When in the second position the slider aperture aligns with at least one of the set of cover apertures to enable the set of prongs to contact the receptacle contacts.

Tamper-resistant electrical wiring device system

A weather resistant telescoping enclosure for enclosing a receptacle or other device is provided that comprises a telescoping cover over an enclosed base portion and an irregularly shaped cutout on its mounting surface that permits positioning of the base portion over an existing device installation with increased mobility.

A tamper-resistant electrical receptacle disclosed herein includes a cover assembly having at least one pair of apertures, a cover, and at least one slider that rests in the cover behind one pair of the apertures. The slider is held in a first position where it covers both apertures such that an object is blocked from entrance in either aperture and, thereby, blocked from accessing either receptacle terminal formed in the base assembly connected to the cover assembly. This first position is maintained until prongs are substantially inserted simultaneously into the apertures causing the slider to move into a second position where the prongs are enabled to pass through the apertures, engaging the receptacle terminals. After the prongs are removed from the receptacle terminals, the slider automatically retracts to the first position. When only one aperture is probed by an object, however, the slider remains confined in the first position.

A cord connector having a water-resistant seal that allows a cord to be connected to one or more connectors and then sealed in a water-resistant enclosure in a field installation or environment. The cord is received at a first opening of the enclosure which uses a sealing assembly comprising a nut, strain relief grommet and bushing to provide a water-resistant seal between the cord and the first opening of the enclosure. The connectors are received at a second opening of the enclosure and use a rubber seal to provide a water-resistant seal between the connectors and the second opening of the enclosure.

A weatherproof cover for protecting electrical receptacles from the harsh elements of weather is disclosed herein. This novel weatherproof cover is operable while the electrical receptacle is in use and includes a weatherproof switch that controls power to the receptacle such that when the receptacle cover of the weatherproof cover is closed after the insertion of an electrical appliance plug, the weatherproof switch can be selected to the ON position to provide power to the receptacle. Power can be subsequently removed or disconnected from the receptacle by simply selecting the OFF position of the switch. Thus, the weatherproof cover protects the receptacle from damage 'While-In-Use' and provides a disconnect switch to control power to the receptacle without having to open the receptacle cover.

Electrical receptacle housing

An electrical plug includes a first portion and a second portion that is matable with the first portion. The second portion has a channel for receiving a wire. The first portion includes at least one prong having a bifurcated contact. The bifurcated contact can pierce an insulation of the wire in the channel and can make contact with at least one conductor of the wire when the first portion is mated with the second portion. The bifurcated contacts are displaced longitudinally from one another along the length of the channel.

An enclosure which supports a standard receptacle for receiving a standard plug and a handle which can be positioned to a first position or a second position is provided. The handle, when in the first position, blocks the removal or insertion of the plug into the receptacle. In the fist position, the receptacle can be selectively connected by a user to a source of power. When the handle is in the second position, the plug can be removed or inserted into the receptacle and the receptacle is prevented from being connected to the source of power. The apparatus includes a receptacle, a switch for turning power to the receptacle on or off, a member coupled to the housing and having a first position which prevents the plug from being inserted into or removed from the receptacle and a second position which allows the plug to be inserted into or removed from the receptacle, and a connector coupled to the member and to the switch to enable the switch to connect the receptacle to a source of power when the member is in the first position. The apparatus also includes a housing for containing the receptacle and mounting lugs for mounting the apparatus.

Method and apparatus for selectively locking a standard plug to a standard receptacle

An electrical connector assembly receives exposed ends of an electrical wire, and includes a foldable body with complementary first and second body portions and components for securely mounting a third body portion in the assembly using a single fastening screw, and for mounting the exposed ends to electrical contacts of an electrical connector device attached to the third body portion and securely mounted in the folded and assembled body portions. The components on the body portions include posts, ribs, and bridges for relieving strain on the electrical wire in the assembly, and other ribs and interlocking components prevent the electrical connector assembly from allowing the wires, the electrical connector device, and/or the third body portion from being removed from the folded and assembled electrical connector assembly.
