A method for displaying signal analysis data comprises performing a plurality of sweep operations upon a received signal. With the sweep operations, spectral analysis is performed upon a first frequency band of the received signal. Displays are rendered of data generated from the spectral analysis in the first band and a second band different from the first band simultaneously, and the displays in the first band and the second bands are updated according to the sweep operations.

Systems and methods for providing signal analysis data

An apparatus for measuring spectral components of a signal is described. The apparatus comprises a measurement acquisition unit configured to receive an input signal and to provide a measurement trace. The apparatus also comprises a model module configured to model one or more of a phase noise from the apparatus, a broadband noise from the apparatus, and a third order intermodulation (TOI) product from the apparatus. The apparatus also comprises a display configured to show one or more of the phase noise from the apparatus, the broadband noise from the apparatus, and the TOI product from the apparatus.

Spectrum analyzers with dynamic range indicator and methods of use

A user interface for an electronic instrument includes a display that displays a signal and a band marker. The band marker demarks a bandwidth of the signal by marking both a start frequency of the bandwidth and a stop frequency of the bandwidth. The electronic instrument performs a function on the bandwidth of the signal between the start frequency and the stop frequency.

Markers used in the calculation and display of band functions

Adjustments are made to a displayed image in order to take into account user viewing angle. Brightness values for colors are stored within palette registers. In response to a user indicating a view angle change, brightness values stored in at least some of the palette registers are changed. As brightness values are increased, contrast between color shades is decreased.

Viewing angle adjustment for a liquid crystal display (LCD)

A method for operating a spectrum analyzer to provide a marker that follows a peak from sweep to sweep in a spectrum display. The method operates on first and second measured spectrums. The first measured spectrum includes a plot of the signal amplitude against frequency during a first time interval in which the marker has been assigned to a peak at a first frequency and first amplitude. The present invention assigns the marker to a peak in the second spectrum measured during a subsequent time interval in which the marker is to be assigned. Initially, a first frequency range is defined in the second measured spectrum centered on the first frequency. The first frequency range is searched for candidate peaks having amplitudes within a first range centered on the first amplitude. If more than one such candidate peak is found by the search, the marker is assigned to the candidate peak closest to the first frequency. If a candidate peak is not found, a second frequency range is defined centered on the first frequency, and the process is repeated with a different amplitude range. If more than one such candidate peak is found by the search, the marker is assigned to the candidate peak farthest from the first frequency. If no candidate peak is found, a third frequency range in the second measured spectrum is defined and this frequency range is searched for all candidate peaks regardless of amplitude. The marker is assigned to one of the candidate peaks based on a weighted sum of the differences in amplitude and frequency of the candidate peaks and the first amplitude and frequency.

Method for operating a spectrum analyzer to display a marker of a signal of interest

An instrument ('INSTR') hardkey facilitates a change in settings of any instrument displayed in any of the windows that appears on a display. The user merely depresses the 'INSTR' key and selects the instrument whose settings are to be changed by a softkey menu that is displayed when the 'INSTR' hardkey is depressed. A color editor is preferably resident in the display and provides a superimposed window and softkey menu for enabling the user to adjust colors. An 'Adjust Color' softkey allows the user to adjust one or all of six factors: red, green, blue, hue (tint), saturation (color or color level), and luminosity (brightness). The window preferably displays red, green, and blue bars in a bar graph format, which change in height as the user changes the red, green, and/or blue settings by a rotary pulse generator or a numeric keyboard. The window also shows readouts for hue, saturation, and luminosity which change as the user adjusts the values with the rotary pulse generator or the numeric keyboard. The ability to adjust any or all of the six attributes (red, green, blue, hue, saturation, and/or luminosity) enables the user to select any desired color. A method implemented in software, instead of hardware, also provides pixel stretching to the entire display to provide clearer, more refined images.
