An energy harvesting device for accurately counting rounds fired by a firearm comprises a piezoelectric element for mechanical coupling to the barrel of the firearm. The piezoelectric element may produce a voltage waveform in response to the mechanical vibrations from a round passing through the barrel, which may power a microcontroller. The microcontroller may determine the rate of change of the voltage waveform to determine if a live round was fired. The microcontroller may be in communication with an RFID chip. The microcontroller may read the value on the RFID chip, increment the value of the RFID chip in response to being turned on by the voltage waveform, and then store the incremented value on the RFID chip. An armorer may remotely check the value of the RFID chip.

Apparatus and method for energy harvesting round counter for firearms

A method of making a continuous fiber barrel wrap sheath onto a steel riffled barrel liner of a gas-operated firearm is described. A wrap made up of composite fiber is wrapped onto a steel riffled barrel liner in a continuous fashion, with no interruption within the steel liner for the purpose of delivering high pressure gas through the steel liner. After joining the composite wrap to the steel barrel liner, either by mechanical or chemical procedure, a slot is formed by carving out a top and/or a bottom of the composite. A gas key insert is then placed in the made slots and retained by mechanical or chemical procedure. Finally, a gas port is drilled through the key insert.

An adjustable stock assembly includes a housing, a stock rail, a release, a key movable with respect to the release, a latch rotatable about a latch pivot between a latched position, an unlatched position and a disassembly position, and a latch cam pin coupled to the release. The housing is extendable and retractable with respect to the stock rail. The stock rail has a slot and one or more recesses adjacent to the slot that can engage the latch, thereby preventing disassembly of the rail from the housing and further securing the rail in a particular configuration. When partially depressed along with the key, the release disengages the latch from the stock rail recesses, allowing the housing to extend and retract within its adjustment range. The housing can be disassembled from the stock rail when the key and release are fully depressed.
