A flue damper may include a vent pipe with a first side leading to an outlet of the flue damper and a second side leading to an inlet of the flue damper. A damper gate of the flue damper may be movable between an open state and a closed state, where in the open state, the first side of the vent pipe is in fluid communication with the second side, and where in the closed state, the damper gate interrupts fluid communication between the first side and the second side. A drainage port may also be included, and a plug may be movable relative to the drainage port to selectively seal the drainage port when the damper gate remains in the closed state.

A flue damper may include a flue pipe with a first side leading to an outlet of the flue damper and a second side leading to an inlet of the flue damper. A damper gate may be included and have an open state and a closed state, where in the open state, the first side of the flue pipe is in fluid communication with the second side, and where in the closed state, the damper gate interrupts fluid communication between the first side and the second side. A float may be secured to an upper surface of the damper gate. The upper surface of the damper gate may face the first side of the flue pipe when the damper gate is in the closed state such that the damper gate at least partially opens when condensate collects within the first side of the flue pipe.

A motor/damper assembly installable on the top end of a fuel-fired water heater includes a support plate structure upon which a flue collar with a pivotally supported flue damper, a drive motor, and a drive shaft interconnecting the motor damper are mounted. The assembly is installed by placing the collar over the upper end of the water heater flue, securing the support plate structure to the top end of the water heater, and positioning a top cover housing on the support plate structure. Using the assembly provides improved support rigidity and alignment for the motor and shaft relative to the damper, improved repeatable precise manufacturing placement of the motor and shaft, improved construction aesthetics, with the cover also protecting the shaft from shipping and handling damages.

A damper system comprises a damper slide adapted to couple to a wall with a first outlet. In one embodiment, the damper slide has a first opening and is adapted to operate in a first position and a second position. In the first position, the first opening is at least partially aligned with the first outlet. The first opening and the first outlet are at least partially offset in the second position.

Low profile damper system for ovens

A damper system comprises a damper blade having open and closed states. The damper blade is movable in a linear direction only between the open and closed states. The damper blade may fully overlap with a flue passage in the closed state, and the damper blade may lack any overlap with the flue passage in the open state. A portion of the damper blade may directly contact a switch activation arm in the open state, wherein the switch activation arm confirms the open state of the damper blade.

A wireless damper control device comprises a damper positioned in a flue, movable between a closed position where the flue is blocked and an open position, a damper controller which sends a damper signal which moves the damper between the open position and the closed position, and a fire side controller which transmits a fireplace signal to open a gas valve to initiate combustion when a fire is desired at a fireplace, and to close the gas valve to terminate combustion when a fire is no longer desired at the fireplace, and which receives a damper status signal from the damper controller indicating whether the damper is in the closed position or the open position. When a fire is desired at the fireplace, the fire side controller transmits a damper control signal to move the damper to the open position, and the fireside controller transmits the fireplace signal to open the gas valve after receiving the damper status signal indicating that the damper is in the open position, and the fire side controller is wirelessly connected to the flue side controller.

Wireless fireplace damper control device

A damper control device suitable for use in a fireplace comprises a flue, wherein products of combustion from the fireplace enter the flue, a damper positioned in a damper pipe which is connected to the flue, with the damper movable between open and closed positions, a motor having a shaft connected to the damper, and a control circuit which initiates combustion and which receives a damper signal which indicates whether the damper is in the open or closed position. In response to a request for heat, the control circuit initiates combustion after receiving the damper signal indicating that the damper is in the open position. The damper control device can also have a mounting ring extending generally perpendicularly form the damper pipe for connecting the damper pipe to the flue. For air-cooled flues, an adapter can be added to allow passage of air along the flue. A status module may be provided for operational or troubleshooting purposes.

Damper control device for outside applications

A damper control device is disclosed comprising a mounting plate, a motor assembly coupled to the mounting plate and having a shaft extending therefrom, and a single circuit board coupled to the mounting plate, comprising relay control circuitry which rotates the shaft to an open position in response to a first signal, rotates the shaft to a closed position in response to a second signal, and time delay circuitry which holds the shaft in the open position for a period of time after receipt of the second signal. Preferably the damper control device can be used with an oil-fired heating appliance.

Damper control device

A device for controlling a damper in an appliance is disclosed comprising a motor having a rotatable shaft extending therefrom which is operatively connected to a plate of the damper, a control circuit which transmits current to the motor to rotate the shaft and in turn rotate the plate to a first position and to a second position, and a dynamic brake operatively connected to the motor, which acts to reduce rotation of the shaft when the circuit supplying current to the motor is opened.

A device for controlling a gas-fired appliance is provided. The device includes a motor assembly having a shaft extending therefrom and a cam coupled to the shaft for rotation therewith. The cam is coupled to a damper plate of the gas-fired appliance and the plate is configured to rotate with the cam responsive to rotation of the motor shaft. The device further includes a printed circuit board having a control switch mounted thereon. The cam is configured to selectively actuate the control switch upon rotation of the cam. The inventive control device may also include a mounting plate to which the motor assembly and circuit board may be mounted. The mounting plate may be an injection-molded, plastic part. In accordance with the present invention the cam is supported on the printed circuit board as opposed to the mounting plate thereby ensuring an accurate positional relationship between the cam and the control switch. In one embodiment of the invention, a pair of support members are disposed on either side of a housing for the control switch on the printed circuit board and are fastened to the switch housing. The cam is then received and positioned by the support members.

Control device for a gas-fired appliance

A device for controlling a gas-fired appliance having a thermoelectric device such as a thermopile is provided and, particularly, for controlling a damper and a main burner valve within a gas-fired appliance. The device includes a motor having a shaft extending therefrom for connection to a plate of a damper. The device further includes a control circuit that selectively transmits current from the thermoelectric device to the motor and to the main burner valve of the appliance. The control circuit includes a temperature sensor and a plurality of single pole double throw switches. When the temperature sensor determines that the temperature of a medium such as water or air is below a predetermined temperature, current is directed through the switches to the motor in order to open the damper. Once the damper is opened, current is redirected through the switches to the valve to open the valve. When the predetermined temperature is reached, current is again directed to the motor to close the damper and trap residual heat within the appliance.
