Technologies for mobile device security are disclosed. A described technique includes launching a monitoring application that has a priority receiver attribute for a Short Message Service (SMS); receiving, within the monitoring application, a message from the SMS, the message being distributed to other applications on the mobile device; parsing the message to extract an originating address and message data; storing, in a data structure controlled by the monitoring application, the originating address and the message data; after a predetermined time interval, using the originating address and the message data stored in the data structure to determine whether the message has been stored in a non-priority client SMS database residing on the mobile device; and if the message has not been stored in the client SMS database, determining whether one or more applications other than the monitoring application that have the priority receiver attribute are associated with malicious activity.

Technologies for wireless device battery analysis and prediction are disclosed. A described technology includes extracting first attributes associated with first applications; collecting data samples from wireless devices that are configured to execute one or more of the first applications, each of the data samples including (i) one or more application identifiers identifying one or more processes executing on a wireless device during a time duration, and (ii) battery drain information associated with the time duration; determining battery usage characteristics of the extracted first attributes based on correlations among a portion of the data samples; extracting second attribute(s) associated with a second application; identifying one or more of the extracted first attributes that correspond respectively to the second attribute(s); and using one or more of the determined battery usage characteristics that correspond respectively to the one or more identified first attributes to determine a battery usage profile for the second application.

Battery drain analysis and prediction for wireless devices

Technologies for network and device management are disclosed. A described technique includes mapping a local network associated with a user to create a network map of one or more discovered devices that are communicatively coupled with the local network; determining device information about the one or more discovered devices, the device information including one or more device identifications corresponding to the one or more discovered devices; storing the network map and the device information in a profile associated with the user; and providing a centralized management interface for managing the one or more discovered devices. The interface can be configured to present information including the network map, the device information, and one or more notifications. The one or more notifications can be based on an analysis of the device information and the network map.

A described technology includes collecting wireless device information including battery drain information relating to a battery of a wireless device; determining, based on the collected wireless device information, a plurality of prediction outcomes corresponding respectively to a plurality of different battery usage prediction models; determining accuracies respectively for the battery usage prediction models; generating weight values respectively for the battery usage prediction models based on the determined accuracies; and generating a battery prediction result for the wireless device based on the prediction outcomes and the generated weight values.
