The present invention relates to a device () for determining an arterial compliance of a subject (). The device () comprises an inflatable cuff (), a pressure sensor () which is configured to sense a pressure signal () that is indicative of a pressure within the cuff (), a second sensor () which is at least partly integrated in the cuff () and configured to sense a second signal () that is responsive to expansions and contractions of the cuff () caused by a pulsating blood flow in an artery () of the subject (), and a processing unit (). The processing unit is configured to determine based on said part of the pressure signal () a pulse pressure of the subject (), to determine based on said part of the second signal () an arterial volume change of the artery () of the subject () during at least one cardiac cycle, and to determine the arterial compliance of the subject () based on pulse pressure and the arterial volume change.

A data processing device () is disclosed for extracting a desired vital signal containing a physiological information component from sensor data that includes time-dependent first sensor data (PPG) comprising the physiological information component and at least one motion artifact component, and that includes time-dependent second sensor data that is indicative of a position, a velocity or an acceleration of the sensed region as a function of time. A room divider () for dividing a room into two sub-portions (R, R) and for attenuating sound (S, S) travelling between the two sub-portions is provided. The room divider comprises hollow cylindrical elements () arranged periodically for dividing the room into the two sub-portions. At least some of the hollow cylindrical elements have a cylindrical shell () with at least one slit () extending in an axial direction () of the shell. The shell extends continuously along the perimeter of the corresponding hollow cylindrical element from one side () of the at least one slit to another side () of the at least one slit. Each of the at least one slit faces in a local elongation direction () of the room divider for increasing acoustic symmetry with respect to the two sub-portions.
