A lighting arrangement with an exchangeable lighting cap, includes a holder for the lighting cap and a lock lever to lock the lighting cap in position on the holder. The front face of the lighting caps has at least one light emitting element, for emitting light in a direction perpendicular to the front face. The edge of the front face has two positioning slots that are perpendicular to the direction of illumination. The holder comprises an opening for receiving the front face and has two positioning elements arranged at a rim of the opening, wherein the positioning elements can be inserted into the positioning slots of the lighting cap by elastic deformation to fix the position of the lighting cap on the holder. The lock lever has an open position for inserting the lighting cap into the holder and a locked position for locking the lighting cap in position.

Lighting arrangement with an exchangeable lighting cap

Backlight unit comprising a supply source (), a discharge lamp () having a tubular discharge vessel () with an ionizable filling, three or more electrodes () arranged in a row along and external of the vessel at spaced relation to each other. The supply source comprises lamp drivers () and data processing means (). Each pair of different pairs of electrodes is coupled to a corresponding lamp driver. Each lamp driver is suitable to supply a high frequency supply voltage to the pair of electrodes to which the lamp driver is coupled. The data processing means is suitable to process input display data (D) and to control the lamp drivers such that their supplied supply voltages are dependent on the input display data.

Backlight unit

The invention relates to a lighting unit having a concave reflector with an axis of symmetry and a light emission window bounded by a circumferential edge transverse to the axis, an elongate light source extending substantially along the axis of symmetry, which light source is accommodated in a holder opposite the light emission window, and an axially positioned cap, which cap partly surrounds the light source and forms an optical means to intercept unreflected light rays. According to the invention, the light source is surrounded by a sleeve with an end at the side of the light emission window, over which end the cap is positioned by way of a fixing element.

The electric lamp has a lamp vessel having a pinch mounted in an outer envelope by means of a clamping member of metal sheet which is present on the pinch. The clamping member has an open loop which extends in a direction transverse to the broad side faces of the pinch. A still open clamping member, when present around the pinch, can easily be fastened by plastically deforming a specified region of the member by the method of the invention.

Electric lamp and manufacturing method

A low pressure gas discharge lamp with a tubular discharge vessel is provided with two separate capacitive coupling members at its ends, the discharge vessel having a small inner diameter of preferably less than 5 mm. Each coupling member has a cylindrical tube of dielectric material. The electrical connection to the coupling members is realized by pressing a spring element having an inner diameter smaller than the outer diameter of the cylindrical tube around this tube. The spring element tightly surrounds a metal body on the cylindrical tube while forming a number of contact points.

Low-pressure gas discharge lamps

The electric lamp has a light source ( ) having a first ( ) and a second light-generating portion ( ) in a concave reflector ( ). Electric lamp

A stationary guide plate (11) is formed with two locally intersecting profiled grooves (12, 13), which are profiled in conformity with a kinked path having a first and a second path section which are inclined relative to each other and of which a first groove (12) has a smaller width and a greater depth than a second groove (13). The profiled grooves (12, 13) are engaged by guide members (14, 15) which are connected to the object carrier (22) so as to be movable in the profiled grooves, and which have a transverse dimension corresponding at least substantially to the width of the respective profiled grooves.

A mechanism is provided for varying the distance between a detector and a measuring crystal in an X-ray spectrometer. The crystal is arranged on a rotatable shaft and the detector is arranged on an arm which can perform a circular movement about the crystal shaft. The crystal shaft and the detector arm are coupled so that a rotation of the crystal shaft through an angle .theta. is accompanied by a rotation of the detector arm through an angle 2.theta.. A first pulley having a radius r is mounted on the crystal shaft and a second disc having a radius 2r is rotatably mounted on the crystal shaft. A belt or cord is guided over each one of two guide rollers. One end of each of these belts is permanently connected to the first pulley, while its other end is permanently connected to the second pulley.
