The present invention relates to aplant which comprises a copy number variant region which leads toandresistance. The invention further relates to propagation material suitable for producing suchplant. The invention also relates to a method for producing suchplant and to methods for identification and selection of such a plant. In addition, the invention relates to a marker for identification of the copy number variant region resulting inandresistance in, and to use of said marker. The invention also relates to seed which comprises the copy number variant region which leads toandresistance in the plant grown from such seed.

Genetic basis forresistance

The present invention relates to a mutant ACO2 gene allele, which leads to a plant of the family of Cucurbitacea, in particular a cucumber plant producing only male flowers. The invention also relates to a plant of the family of Cucurbitacea, in particular a cucumber plant, comprising the mutant ACO2 gene allele. The mutant ACO2 allele provides plants that only produce male flowers. The invention further relates to the use of the mutant allele of the ACO2 gene for the identification and development of a plant of the family of Cucurbitacea, in particular a cucumber plant, producing only male flowers.

The present invention relates to a cucumber plant of the speciescarrying a genetic determinant that leads to a darker green stem in the seedling stage that is predictive of a darker green color of the fruits as compared to an isogenic cucumber plant not carrying the said genetic determinant, which genetic determinant is as comprised in a cucumber plant representative seed of which was deposited with the NCIMB under deposit number NCIMB 41859. The genetic determinant is suitably introgressed into the cucumber plant from a cucumber plant of which representative seed has been deposited with the NCIMB under deposit number NCIMB 41859.

Dark stem cucumber plants

The present invention relates to a parthenocarpic cucumber fruit (L.) having a small seed cavity. A parthenocarpic cucumber fruit (L.) having a small seed cavity has a lower total moisture content. Two QTLs have been identified that either alone or in combination lead to the phenotype of having a small seed cavity. The invention further relates to a cucumber plant comprising one of the QTLs or a combination of both QTLs, which cucumber plant is capable of producing parthenocarpic fruits that have a small seed cavity. The invention also relates to markers for identifying the QTLs.

The present invention relates to modified RDR1 gene capable of conferring virus resistance to a plant and/or increasing virus resistance in a plant, which modification results in enhanced expression of the RDR1 gene, and wherein the modification is selected from a modification that increases the mRNA level of the RDR1 gene; a modification that increases the level of the RDR1 protein; and/or a modification that increases the activity of the RDR1 protein, as compared to a non-modified wild-type RDR1 gene.
