The invention pertains to a polymer composition possessing improved resistance towards degradation and discolouring phenomena induced by UV radiation, said composition comprising at least one aromatic sulfone polymer; at least one organic UV absorber and at least one basic compound selected from the group consisting of (i) basic oxides and hydroxides of divalent metals and (ii) salts of a weak acid, and to methods for its manufacture and to shaped articles obtained therefrom.

Sulfone polymer composition

The invention relates to a composition [composition (C)] comprising a poly(biphenyl ether sulfone) polymer [polymer (P)] and selected metal oxides in specific amounts. Composition (C) can be advantageously used for the manufacture of sterilizable shaped articles.

Polymer composition and sterilizable articles obtainable therefrom

A polymer composition includes at least two different polymers independently selected from a poly(aryl ether ketone) (PAEK), a poly(aryl ether sulfone) (PAES), a polyarylene sulfide (PAS) and a polyetherimide (PEI), and about 0.05 to about 2 wt. % of at least one alkali metal carbonate. Preferably, the polymer composition is free or substantially free of solvent. A method includes melt mixing at least two different polymers independently selected from a poly(aryl ether ketone) (PAEK), a poly(aryl ether sulfone) (PAES), a polyarylene sulfide (PAS) and a polyetherimide (PEI), and about 0.05 to about 2 wt. % of at least one alkali metal carbonate to form a compatibilized polymer composition.

A composition [composition (C)] comprising: from 1 to 90% by weight (wt. %) of at least one a polyetherimide polymer [PEI polymer], from 5 to 94 wt. % of at least one polyphenylsulfone polymer, [PPSU polymer], from 5 to 75% wt. of at least one fibrous reinforcing filler.

Toughened poly(aryl ether sulfone)/poly(aryl ether ketone) blends

The invention relates to polyamide composition comprising at least one polyamide featuring a melting temperature (Tm), at least one metal oxide selected from magnesium oxide, zinc oxide and calcium oxide, and titanium dioxide, said composition featuring an intrinsic melt viscosity of below 800 Pa&#xb7;s as measured according to ASTM D3835-08 at a moisture content as measured according to ASTM D6869-03 in the range of 150-500 ppm at a shear rate of 400 sand at a temperature ranging from [(Tm max)+10&#xb0; C.] to [(Tm max)+20&#xb0; C.] where (Tm max) is the highest of all melting temperatures (Tm). Invented compositions feature high reflectivity in the molded part with high retention of whiteness and reflectivity after heat aging. This unique combination of properties makes the compositions according to the invention most suitable for LED applications.

Process for manufacturing the above multilayer structure, which comprises co-extruding polymer compositions (C1) and (C2), so as to obtain couple (L1-L2) of adjacent layers (T1) and (T2). Shaped article comprising the above multilayer structure, and process for manufacturing it.
