A wheeled luggage item includes a base defining an interior cavity, and a liner structured to partition the interior cavity into a first portion and a second portion physically isolated from the first portion. Personal luggage items may be stored in the cavity first portion. First and second wheels are rotatably coupled to the base so as to be movable between stowed positions in the cavity second portion and deployed positions outside the base, to enable a riding mode of the luggage item. Steering levers are rotatably deployable to operably connect to the first wheel, enabling the first wheel to be steered by a user riding the luggage item in the riding mode. To propel the luggage item in the riding mode, a battery in the interior cavity may power an in-wheel motor operably connected to the second wheel.

Systems, methods, and other embodiments described herein relate to navigating a trailer after the physical connection between a vehicle and trailer disconnects. In one embodiment, a method includes responsive to determining that a physical connection between a vehicle and a trailer has disconnected, determining trajectory information for navigating the trailer without a connection to the vehicle. The method includes communicating the trajectory information to the trailer to cause the trailer to follow a trajectory associated with the vehicle. The method includes monitoring whether the trailer is following the trajectory.

Systems and methods for navigating a trailer with a vehicle when a physical connection disconnects

A vehicle, a vehicle brake cooling system, a computer program product, and a method of controlling a vehicle in a manner to achieve enhanced aerodynamic performance of the vehicle and active cooling to the wheel brakes during operation of the vehicle. The vehicle includes one or more a vehicle air vents moveable between a first position and a second position, and one or more processors of a computing system. The one or more processors are configured to dynamically conduct, in response to a detection as sensor data one or more of a current position of the vehicle air vents, a current temperature of vehicle wheel brakes, and a current speed of the vehicle, a vehicle brake analysis of the sensor data. The one or more processors are also configured to dynamically control, in response to the vehicle brake analysis and wireless network data, the vehicle air vents between the first position to enhance the aerodynamic performance of the vehicle and the second position to selectively direct ambient airflow to the vehicle wheel brakes in a manner that selectively cools the vehicle wheel brakes.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods apply, with a fan, a braking force to a vehicle that includes an axle. The fan is rotated at a first rotational speed based on a rotation of the axle that rotates at a second rotational speed. The first rotational speed is different from the second rotational speed. The fan applies the braking force when the fan rotates at the first rotational speed.

Fan to decelerate vehicle and provide cooling to friction brakes

A vehicle can include a first wheel, a second wheel, and a steering system. Either both the first wheel and the second wheel can be front wheels or both the first wheel and the second wheel can be rear wheels. The steering system can be configured to concurrently cause: (1) a steering angle of the first wheel to be at a first angle and (2) a steering angle of the second wheel to be at a second angle. A difference angle can be a difference of the first angle subtracted from the second angle and can be greater than an angle determined to comply with Ackermann steering geometry. Such a difference angle can act to securely brake the vehicle when the vehicle is parked at a location at which a three-dimensional shape of a topological relief of the location can complicate an effort to securely brake the vehicle.

Causing a difference between steering angles of front wheels or rear wheels of a vehicle in a park mode

A lifting system for generating a lifting force on a portion of a vehicle includes a vehicle wheel and a force-generating mechanism structured to be received inside a rim cavity of the wheel. The force-generating mechanism is also structured to be operably connected to a frame of a vehicle. A bearing member is operably connected to the force-generating mechanism. The bearing member is structured to transmit a force generated by the force-generating mechanism to a surface in physical contact with the bearing member. The bearing member is also structured for operably connecting the wheel to the force-generating mechanism. Force applied by the force-generating mechanism may be sufficient to lift a portion of the vehicle off of a ground surface, or the force may only be sufficient to apply a parking brake force without lifting the vehicle.

A system for controlling a trailer brake output circuit includes an electronic control unit having one or more processors and one or more memory modules. The trailer brake output circuit is configured to output a trailer brake output signal. Machine readable instructions cause the electronic control unit to: receive a signal from a vehicle stability control system indicating that a vehicle stability control flag is set, generate the trailer brake output signal in response to the vehicle stability control flag being set such that the trailer brake output signal ramps up to a target value over a predefined period of time, maintain the trailer brake output signal at the target value while the vehicle stability control flag is set, and output the trailer brake output signal such that the trailer brake output signal ramps down from the target value when the vehicle stability control flag changes from set to not set.

Systems, vehicles, and methods for vehicle stability control and trailer brake control collaboration

A vehicle can have: (1) a first pair of rear wheels with a first pair of tires configured to be able to bear a weight of the vehicle and (2) a second pair of rear wheels with a second pair of tires installed on the second pair of rear wheels and configured to be selectively inflatable. The first pair of wheels can be disposed on a first pair of axles. The second pair of wheels can be disposed on the first pair of axles or on a second axle. In an inflated state, the second pair of tires can be configured to be able to bear the weight of the vehicle. In a deflated state, the second pair of tires can lack being configured to bear the weight of the vehicle. An individual or a controller can cause the vehicle to have a conventional configuration or a dually configuration.

Vehicle selectively convertible to a dually configuration

A system for a vehicle and a trailer connected to the vehicle is provided. The system includes a trailer brake output circuit configured to output a trailer brake output signal, and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to determine whether a value of a yaw rate of the trailer connected to the vehicle becomes greater than a threshold value, change a yaw rate oscillation counter in response to determining that the value of the yaw rate of the trailer becomes greater than the threshold value, instruct the trailer brake output circuit to output the trailer brake output signal to the trailer in response to the yaw rate oscillation becoming a first value, and activate trailer sway control in response to the yaw rate oscillation becoming a second value. The second value is greater than the first value.

Systems, vehicles, and methods for trailer sway control

A vehicle control system of a vehicle includes a trailer brake control electronic control unit (ECU), which in turn includes a trailer brake output circuit. The trailer brake control ECU is configured to receive an electronic parking brake (EPB) state flag and a vehicle acceleration message. The dynamic EPB state flag indicates one of an ON state and an OFF state of a dynamic EPB, and the vehicle acceleration message indicates an acceleration of the vehicle. The trailer brake control ECU outputs, via the trailer brake output circuit, a trailer brake signal based on the acceleration of the vehicle indicated by the received vehicle acceleration message in response to determining that the received dynamic EPB state flag indicates the ON state.
