A method includes inputting used oil analysis data to a pre-trained predictive model, the used oil analysis data including values quantifying a plurality of chemical components measured in a sample of used oil taken from an engine under analysis, determining a probability of at least one fail code with the pre-trained predictive model in response to the used oil analysis data, the at least one fail code corresponding to one of a plurality of predetermined engine failure types, providing the at least one fail code and the probability of the at least one fail code to an expert system, performing with the expert system a root cause analysis of the at least one fail code determine a root cause indicating a preventative maintenance action, and performing the predictive maintenance action on the engine under analysis.

Predictive engine maintenance apparatuses, methods, systems and techniques

A method of performing a cleanup service on an internal combustion engine. The method involves draining used fleet oil from the engine, filling the engine with cleanup oil, draining the cleanup oil after an operation interval, and filling the engine with fresh fleet oil. The method can be performed as a remedial measure for an engine already exhibiting high oil consumption, or as a preventative measure on a healthy engine.

Unique oil as a service event

A natural gas fueling system supplies methane gas to an engine and includes a filter assembly. The filter assembly includes a gas inlet configured to receive inlet gas and a methane permeable filter configured to separate methane gas and first contaminant gases from the inlet gas. The natural gas fueling system also includes a reformer apparatus configured to convert the first contaminant gases into a reformed gas stream including methane gas. The reformed gas is supplied to the gas inlet and is recirculated through the filter assembly to extract the methane gas from the reformed gas stream.

This disclosure describes a filtration system and method for removing soap from diesel fuel. The removal involves passing fuel through the filtration system. By removing soap, injector sticking and plugging can be reduced and for fuel already contaminated with soap, lubricity and/or corrosion inhibition functionality resulting from the conversion of carboxylic acid additives can be restored to metal carboxylates.
