Antimicrobial compositions and methods for inhibiting microbial growth are disclosed. The antimicrobial compositions can include an acyl lactylate, a glycol, and a carrier. The carrier can include water. Water can form at least about 90% by weight of the composition.

Antimicrobial compositions can include an antimicrobial boosting agent that increases the antimicrobial effectiveness of the composition. A composition can include a carrier providing at least 90% of a total weight of the composition and an antimicrobial agent. The composition can also include an antimicrobial boosting agent comprising a sultaine. The antimicrobial boosting agent can provide 1.0% or less of the total weight of the composition. The composition can be substantially free from a short-chain alcohol.

A disinfectant composition that is capable of inactivating non-enveloped viruses as well as other microorganisms, such as gram negative and gram positive bacteria, fungi, parasites, enveloped viruses, etc., is provided. Through selective control over the nature of the acid(s) employed and the overall pH level, the present inventors have discovered that the composition can achieve rapid antiviral efficacy, particularly against non-enveloped viruses. Once applied to a surface (e.g., hard surface), the disinfectant composition forms a film that remains capable of providing residual antiviral activity. Notably, the present inventors have discovered that the use of a vinylpyrrolidone copolymer in combination with a polyquaternary ammonium polymer and cationic surfactant can have a synergistic effect on the stability of the film such that it can also achieve long-term, residual antiviral activity.

Wetting compositions can include water and a silicone-based softening agent. The softening agent can include a structure of: Gcan be —CHCHCH—(CHO)—H. Gcan be —CHCHCH—OCH—CH(OH)—CH—R. Rcan be selected from the group consisting of: —NH—(CH)—NH, —NH—(CH)—NH—(CH)—NH, N-piperidine, and N-3,3,5,5-tetramethyl-piperidine.

Farnesol analogs, along with their related products (e.g., treatment compositions, wipes, absorbent articles, etc.) and their methods of formation, are provided. The farnesol analog includes a hydrophilic end group (e.g., a hydroxyl end group or a carboxylic acid end group) attached to farnesol via a covalent linkage (e.g., an ester group or an ether group).

Water soluble farnesol analogs and their use

Improved skin-adhesive compositions for bonding a substrate, such as an absorbent article, to skin are disclosed. More particularly, the skin-adhesive composition has an improved, yet gentle, adhesion to the skin of a user, while maintaining strong, effective bonding to various inanimate, non-skin substrates. In one embodiment, the skin-adhesive composition can provide one or more skin benefit agents to the user. The skin-adhesive composition may applied to an absorbent article, such as a panty-liner, sanitary napkin, or an incontinence article, for directly adhering the article to the skin of a user.

Methods for adjusting the solubility of a botanical oil in water, along with the resulting modified botanical oil and related products (e.g., treatment compositions, wipes, absorbent articles, etc.) are provided. In one embodiment, the method includes reacting the botanical oil to form a reactive product (e.g., having a hydroxyl group); and attaching a hydrophilic end group (e.g., a carboxylic acid, a carboxylic acid salt, a sugar, etc.) on the reactive product to form a modified botanical oil. The modified botanical oil generally, in most embodiments, has a greater solubility in water than the botanical oil (e.g., a solubility in water of about 10 grams per 100 grams of water or greater, such as completely soluble in water). The botanical oil includes, in one particular embodiment, an essential oil, such as those essential oil that include at least one terpene compound.

Pre-moistened wiping articles are provided comprising a fibrous web impregnated with a liquid cleaning composition including an unstable dispersion of water, surfactant, and water insoluble polysaccharide particles such as natural starch and/or microcrystalline cellulose. Due to the instability of the dispersion the particles primarily reside on the surface of the fibers forming the fibrous web and are freely released from the web as a result of the mechanical and hydraulic forces associated with use of the article. The pre-moistened wiping articles are suitable for use in personal care applications including use as perineal wipes. Embodiments of the invention further include methods of making pre-moistened wiping articles comprising a fibrous web impregnated with the unstable dispersion.

The present invention relates to compositions having durable antimicrobial activity. The compositions include a carbonate/bicarbonate salt of a quaternary ammonium cation, an organic acid, hydrogen peroxide and a polymer. The polymer is selected from cationic amine polymer-epichlorohydrin adduct, cationic amine polymer-epichlorohydrin resin, poly(methacrylamidopropyltrimethylammonium) chloride, poly(bis(2-chloroethyl)ether-alt-1,3-bis(dimethylamino)propyl)urea, poly(diallyldimethylammonium) chloride, poly(t-butyl acrylate co-ethyl acrylate co-methacrylic acid), polyethylene oxide, polyquaternium-16, polyquaternium-22, polyquaternium-67 and mixtures thereof.

Durable antimicrobial composition

An emulsion suitable for incorporation into wet wipes used to clean urine and fecal matter from the skin. The emulsion includes silicone oil and water-soluble zinc salt such as zinc chloride and zinc sulfate. Phase separation is prevented with an emulsification system that includes a gum blend and salt-tolerant emulsifier. The gum blend includes at least one gum and propylene glycol alginate.

A color-appearing ink composition includes a surfactant blend of at least two non-ionic surfactants having hydrophilic-lipophilic balance values greater than 10, or a non-ionic surfactant having a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance value greater than 10 and a charged surfactant.
