A method for abandonment of a subsea well includes: setting a packer of a lower cementing tool against a bore of an inner casing at a location adjacent to an outer casing; fastening a pressure control assembly (PCA) to the subsea wellhead; hanging an upper cementing tool from the PCA and stabbing the upper cementing tool into a polished bore receptacle of the lower cementing tool; perforating a wall of the inner casing below the packer; perforating the inner casing wall above the packer by operating a perforator of the upper cementing tool; and pumping cement slurry followed by a release plug through bores of the cementing tools. The release plug engages and launches a cementing plug from the lower cementing tool. The cementing plug drives the cement slurry through the perforations below the packer and into an inner annulus formed between the inner casing and the outer casing.

A method for abandonment of a subsea well includes: fastening a pressure control assembly (PCA) to a subsea wellhead; and deploying a tool string into the PCA. The tool string includes a packer and an upper perforator located above the packer. The method further includes: closing a bore of the PCA above the tool string with a solid barrier; and setting the packer against an inner casing hung from the subsea wellhead. The method further includes, while the PCA bore is closed, perforating a wall of the inner casing by operating the upper perforator. The method further includes injecting cement slurry into an inner annulus formed between the inner casing and an outer casing hung from the subsea wellhead.

A method for riserless intervention of a subsea well includes: lowering a pressure control assembly (PCA) from a vessel to a subsea production tree; fastening the PCA to the tree; lowering a control pod from the vessel to the PCA using an umbilical; fastening the control pod to the PCA; lowering an end of a fluid conduit from the vessel to the PCA; and fastening the fluid conduit to the PCA using a dry break connection.

Embodiments of the present invention generally relate to a casing tester for plugging and abandoning a wellbore. In one embodiment, a method of testing an annulus defined between a first tubular string and a second tubular string includes engaging a first annular packer with an outer surface of the first tubular string and engaging a second annular packer with an outer surface of the second tubular string. The tubular strings extend into a wellbore. The method further includes injecting a test fluid between the packers until a predetermined pressure is exerted on the annulus.

In one embodiment, a method of salvaging a submerged production platform includes deploying a salvage vessel to a wreckage site of the submerged production platform; lowering a lifting magnet from the salvage vessel to the submerged production platform; and activating the lifting magnet, thereby capturing at least a portion of the submerged production platform.

An apparatus, method, and system for use in operating an electric downhole tool on a non-conductive support line (slickline) by converting a battery voltage to an output voltage suitable for operating the tool. In response to receiving a trigger signal, the output voltage signal is applied to the tool. The tool is controlled by varying the output voltage signal according to a power control sequence. Accordingly, electric tools typically requiring surface intervention by an operator via an electric cable (wireline) may be operated on slickline.

The present invention generally relates to a method and an apparatus for stimulating the production of an existing well. In one aspect, a method of treating a well is provided. The method includes inserting a selective treatment assembly and a plug assembly into a partially lined wellbore until the selective treatment assembly is positioned proximate an area of interest. Thereafter, the selective treatment assembly is activated to isolate and treat the area of interest. Next, the selective treatment assembly is deactivated and urged toward the surface of the well until the plug assembly is seated in a polished bore receptacle disposed in a string of casing. At this point, the treated portion of the wellbore is separated from the untreated portion. Thereafter, the pressure in the untreated portion of the wellbore is equalized with the surface of the well and then the selective treatment assembly is removed from the wellbore while the plug assembly remains in the polished bore receptacle. Next, a string of production tubing is disposed in the wellbore and attached to the polished bore receptacle. The plug assembly is then removed from the polished bore receptacle and the well is produced. In another aspect an apparatus for treating a portion of a wellbore is provided.

Method and apparatus for treating a well

Methods of using and making and apparatuses utilizing a filtered actuator port for hydraulically actuated down hole tools. The filtered port prevents sand or other debris from entering the actuator workings of a tool. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, hydraulic tools utilizing filtered actuator ports are disclosed. In a second aspect, the filtered port comprises fine slots disposed through a wall of a mandrel spaced around the circumference of the mandrel. In a third aspect, the inlet port is formed by laser cutting or electrical discharge machining. In a fourth aspect, the filtered port is disposed in various components of a fracture pack-off system. Methods of using the fracture pack-off system utilizing the filtered port are provided.

Embodiments of the present invention generally provide a method, apparatus, and system for monitoring conditions in wellbore in real time prior to setting an inflatable element in the wellbore. The inflatable element is inflated with an inflation tool run on a cable with one or more electrically conductive wires (the cable is commonly referred to as a 'wireline'). One or more sensors, internal or external to the inflation tool, are monitored before setting the inflatable element to verify well conditions are compatible with the inflatable element. The sensors may be internal or external to the inflation tool.

The present invention involves a pack-off system for use in packing off an area of interest within a wellbore. The pack-off system comprises at least two packing elements disposed on a tubular body. The packing elements of the present invention comprise overlapping leaves which are pivotally mounted on the tubular body. The present invention further involves a method for using the pack-off system, wherein the packing elements are placed adjacent to an area of interest within a wellbore. The overlapping leaves of the packing elements are extended radially to effectively obstruct fluid flow in the annular space between the outermost portions of the packing elements and the wellbore. The bulk of the fluid introduced into the wellbore is trapped between the packing elements and is thereby forced into the area of interest.

High expansion non-elastomeric straddle tool

A simple debris removal apparatus for use in a wellbore. In one aspect of the invention a modular, interchangeable venturi is provided which can be retrofit into an existing debris bailer having a filter and a debris collection container. In another aspect of the invention, a venturi is utilized to create a negative pressure in a wellbore sufficient to actuate a retrieval tool for a downhole device. In yet another aspect of the invention, a combination tool is provided which can evacuate debris in a wellbore, thereby uncovering a downhole device which can then be removed in a single trip. In yet another aspect of the invention, a debris removal apparatus is provided with a method for utilizing the apparatus in a wellbore on coiled tubing.

An isolation container designed for use with a downhole electric pump assembly commonly used in oil and gas drilling and production operations is disclosed. The isolation container has an annular housing with an axial inlet and outlet bore. A downhole electric pump assembly is centrally located within the pressure isolation container. The downhole electric pump assembly includes an electric pump positioned above and coupled to a motor seal section which is positioned above and coupled to a centrifugal pump, thereby providing a means to power the centrifugal pump. A blind coupling is positioned above the electric motor with a tubular member connected thereto and extending through the inlet of the isolation container. The tubular member connects to a tubing string supplying fluid from the surface. The blind coupling has a plurality of radially disposed ports to allow pressurized fluid from the surface to flow into the annulus between the downhole electric pump and the isolation container. This fluid then flows to inlet ports on the downhole electric pump. The pressure of the pressurized fluid is then boosted or increased by the operation of the downhole electric pump. The fluid is then discharged through a tubular member, which is sealed in the outlet bore of the pressure isolation container. The tubular member extends through a packer positioned below the pressure isolation container and the boosted pressure fluid is injected into the subsurface formation. An electrical cable from the surface supplies power to the electric motor and a check valve is provided on the upper end of the pressure isolation container for releasing entrained air in the pressure isolation container.
