A torque response adaptation system for a vehicle includes an engine control module (ECM) and a torque requestor module connected to the ECM via a controller area network (CAN) and configured to determine at least one of a torque response delay adaptation and a torque response magnitude adaptation, wherein the torque response delay and magnitude adaptations corresponds to a time delay and a magnitude difference, respectively, between a torque request provided to the ECM via the CAN and a corresponding torque response returned from the ECM via the CAN, generate a modified torque request for the ECM based on the at least one of the torque response delay adaptation and the torque response magnitude adaptation, and transmit, to the ECM via the CAN, the modified torque request, wherein receipt of the modified torque request by the ECM causes the ECM to increase performance of the vehicle.

A launch control system for a vehicle having a torque generating system to generate and transfer drive torque to a transmission includes a driver interface configured to display information to and receive input from a driver of the vehicle. A controller is in signal communication with the driver interface, the torque generating system, and the transmission. The controller is configured to (i) display, via the driver interface, a torque reduction request for a gear shift of the transmission, (ii) receive, from the driver via the driver interface, a driver selected torque reduction request for the gear shift, and (iii) perform the driver selected torque reduction request at the torque generating system during the gear shift.

Grade based transmission park pawl unloading techniques include in response to detecting a request to shift a transmission of a vehicle out of a park state, determining a set of load parameters using a set of sensors configured to monitor the set of load parameters of the vehicle, the set of load parameters including at least a grade of a surface that the vehicle is on and a weight of the vehicle, based on the set of load parameters, activating a series of a plurality of clutches of the transmission to cause the transmission to transfer or output a desired amount of drive torque in a desired direction to unload the park pawl, and when the park pawl is unloaded, shifting the transmission out of the park state without any noise/vibration/harshness (NVH) associated with the previous loading of the park pawl.

Techniques for controlling an automatic transmission of a vehicle include receiving a set of operating parameters each relating to a rock cycling maneuver of the vehicle, the rock cycling maneuver comprising a plurality of consecutive garage shifts of the transmission, determining whether the set of operating parameters satisfy a set of entry or exit criteria to/from a rock cycling mode of the transmission and enter/exit the rock cycling mode based on the determination, while not in the rock cycling mode, controlling the transmission based on a first set of calibrations for the transmission, the first set of calibrations being optimized for normal garage shifts of the transmission, and while in the rock cycling mode, controlling the transmission based on a different second set of calibrations for the transmission, the second set of calibrations being optimized for the rock cycling maneuver.
