A three-dimensional (3D) object production process comprising providing a thermoset printing apparatus comprising a mixing chamber to receive and mix at least a first reactive component and a second reactive component to provide a thermosetting material, an extrusion nozzle to deliver the thermosetting material to form a 3D object, at least one actuator coupled to the extrusion nozzle to move the extrusion nozzle when delivering the thermosetting material to form the 3D object, and a controller comprising one or more processors and coupled to the extruded thermoset printing apparatus, and depositing the thermosetting material to form the 3D object, wherein the depositing comprises depositing a first layer of thermosetting material and depositing an at least second layer of thermosetting material, wherein the beads of thermosetting material in the at least second layer are offset from the beads of thermosetting material in the first layer.

Method for three dimensional printing of parts with overhang

Provided herein is a method for creating a three dimensional (3D) object from reactive components that form a thermoset product. In one embodiment, a method includes providing first and second reactive components that are effective to form the thermoset product. In one embodiment, the thermoset product includes a urethane and/or urea-containing polymer. In one embodiment, the first reactive component includes an isocyanate and the second reactive component includes a polyol having at least one terminal hydroxyl group, a polyamine having at least one amine that includes an isocyanate reactive hydrogen, or a combination of the polyol and the polyamine. In one embodiment, the first reactive component includes a prepolymer, and optionally the ratio of viscosity of the first and second reactive components is from 1:3 to 3:1. Also provided is a 3D object that includes a completely reacted thermoset product, and a thermoset system that includes a first and a second reactive component.

Disclosed herein is a polyketal adduct obtained by forming an ester between a hydrocarbon polyol and a ketocarboxylic acid to produce an intermediate polyketocarboxylic ester. The intermediate polyketocarboxylic ester can be purified via crystallization to achieve purities of greater than 99.0% and then ketalized to produce the polyketal adduct, which can be used in polymer compositions. The polyketal adduct I is obtained at high purity and at high yield.
