A system and method for high speed switching comprises receiving voltage inputs at a bridge rectifier, generating a control signal from a transistor, and driving a gate of a field effect transistor (FET) via the control signal of the transistor, wherein a source of the FET is connected to a negative output of the bridge rectifier and a drain of the FET is connected to a positive output of the bridge rectifier through a load. The system and method further comprises limiting current flowing to the gate of the FET through first and second resistors and first and second diodes connecting the voltage inputs to the gate of the FET and limiting voltage to the gate of the FET below a maximum voltage rating of the FET by a Zener diode connected to the gate of the FET.

High speed switching solid state relay circuit

A system is for a machine having an alternating current (AC) power source with a first side and a second side, one or more windings, an AC polarity detector, a Hall effect device, two or more pairs of power switches, and a motor controller. The motor controller determines which of the power switches to open or close to obtain a direction of current flow through the one or more windings based on signals from the AC polarity detector and the Hall effect device.

A method is for a circuit for a motor comprising first and second phase windings. The method comprises receiving alternating current (AC) power from the first and second phase windings at a direct current (DC) power supply and converting the AC power to DC power and receiving AC power from the first and second phase windings by at least one power switch between the first and second phase windings and switching the AC power by the at least one power switch. The method includes preventing the DC power supply from collapsing, by a first component connected to the DC power supply, when the at least one power switch is on during a first portion of an AC cycle and preventing the DC power supply from collapsing, by a second component connected to the DC power supply, when the at least one power switch is on during a second portion of the AC cycle.

Divided phase AC synchronous motor controller

A method is for a machine having an alternating current (AC) power source with a first side (L) and a second side (L), two or more pairs of power switches, and one or more windings. The method comprises closing one pair of power switches by a control circuit to cause current to flow from a first side of the AC power source, through the one or more windings, and to the second side of the AC power source and closing another pair of power switches by the control circuit to cause current to flow from the second side of the AC power source, through the one or more windings, and to the first side of the AC power source.

A method for high speed switching comprises receiving voltage inputs at a bridge rectifier, receiving a logic input signal at an optical isolator and generating an output signal from the optical isolator based on the logic input signal, and driving a gate of a field effect transistor (FET) via the output signal of the optical isolator, wherein a source of the FET is connected to a negative output of the bridge rectifier and a drain of the FET is connected to a positive output of the bridge rectifier through a load. The method further includes limiting current flowing to the gate of the FET through first and second resistors and first and second diodes connecting the voltage inputs to the gate of the FET and limiting voltage to the gate of the FET below a maximum voltage rating of the FET by a Zener diode connected to the gate of the FET.

A circuit includes first and second phase windings, a direct current (DC) power supply to convert alternating current (AC) power to DC power, at least one power switch between the first and second phase windings, and a controller to control the at least one power switch. The circuit also includes a component to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a first portion of a cycle and a second component to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a second portion of the cycle.

A multispeed alternating current (AC) machine circuit is for an AC power source having a first side and a second side. The AC machine circuit includes two or more pairs of power switches, one or more windings, and a control circuit to close one pair of power switches to cause current to flow from a first side of the AC power source, through the one or more windings, to the second side of the AC power source and to close the other pair of power switches to cause current to flow from the second side of the AC power source, through the one or more windings, to the first side of the AC power source.

A circuit includes motor phase windings that are divided, a direct current (DC) power supply between the divided motor phase windings, a power switch circuit comprising at least one power switch, the at least one power switch being between the divided motor phase windings. The circuit also includes a first non-collapsing DC power supply component to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a first portion of a cycle and a second non-collapsing DC power supply component to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a second portion of the cycle.

A circuit for a motor comprises at least two phase windings forming one half of motor phase windings of the circuit and at least two other phase windings forming another half of the motor phase windings of the circuit. A direct current (DC) power supply receives alternating current (AC) power transferred from one or more of the motor phase windings and converts the AC power to DC power. A first stage power switch circuit comprising at least one power switch is connected between the at least two phase windings on the one half of the motor phase windings of the circuit and between the at least two other phase windings on the other half of the motor phase windings of the circuit. A second stage power switch circuit comprising at least one other power switch is connected between the one half of the motor phase windings of the circuit and the other half of the motor phase windings of the circuit, the at least one other power switch to receive AC power from one or more of the motor phase windings. At least one non-collapsing DC power supply component prevents the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on.

A circuit includes phase windings, a direct current (DC) power supply, and a power switch circuit. The power switch circuit includes at least one power switch. The circuit also includes a control circuit to control the power switch circuit. The control circuit includes a logic control shut off circuit to shut off the control circuit when the motor is at synchronous speed. The circuit also includes at least one non-collapsing DC power supply component to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on and conducting during at least a portion of a cycle. One or more of the DC power supply and power switch circuit may be at a midpoint of the phase windings.

A circuit includes phase windings, a direct current (DC) power supply, and a power switch circuit. The power switch circuit includes at least one power switch and a voltage regulator in parallel with the at least one power switch, wherein current flows through the voltage regulator when the at least one power switch is on and off. The circuit also includes at least one non-collapsing DC power supply component to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on and conducting during at least a portion of a cycle. One or more of the DC power supply and power switch circuit may be at a midpoint of the phase windings.

A circuit includes phase windings, a power switch circuit comprising at least one power switch at a midpoint of the phase windings, a direct current (DC) supply circuit at the midpoint of the phase windings, and one or more non-collapsing DC power supply components to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on and conducting during one or more portions of a cycle. The one or more non-collapsing DC power supply components each may include one or more of a tap from one of the phase windings electrically connected to the DC power supply, a secondary phase coil winding connected to the DC power supply to power the power supply, one or more resistors between the one of the phase windings and the power switch circuit, one or more Zener diodes between one of the phase windings and the power switch circuit, and/or an electrical component to create a voltage drop between one of the phase windings and the power switch circuit to prevent the power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch in the power switch circuit is on and conducting.
