An assembly is provided for rotational equipment. This assembly includes a seal device, a ring structure and a fastener. The seal device includes a plurality of seal shoes, a seal base, a plurality of spring elements and a fastener aperture extending axially through the seal device. The seal shoes are arranged around a centerline in an annular array. The seal shoes include a first seal shoe. The seal base circumscribes the annular array. The spring elements include a first spring element. The first spring element connects and extends between the first seal shoe and the seal base. The ring structure is axially adjacent the seal device. The fastener is mated with the fastener aperture and abutted axially against the ring structure.

Non-contact seal with seal device axial locator(s)

A seal assembly configured to reduce fluid flow from an axially upstream side of the seal assembly to an axially downstream side of the seal assembly includes a primary seal and a secondary seal assembly disposed at an axially forward end of the primary seal. The secondary seal assembly includes a seal support and a secondary seal. The seal support includes a downstream axial face disposed axially proximate to and facing the primary seal, an upstream axial face opposite the downstream axial face, a body extending from the downstream axial face to the upstream axial face, a first leg extending radially inward from the body, a second leg extending radially inward from the body, and a mistake-proofing protrusion extending from the upstream axial face and in an axially upstream direction.

Mistake-proofing for hydrostatic seal assemblies

An assembly is provided for rotational equipment. This assembly includes a seal device, a ring structure and a fastener. The seal device includes a plurality of seal shoes, a seal base and a plurality of spring elements. The seal shoes are arranged around a centerline in an annular array. The seal shoes include a first seal shoe. The seal base circumscribes the annular array. The spring elements include a first spring element. The first spring element connects and extends between the first seal shoe and the base. The ring structure is axially adjacent the seal device. The ring structure includes a fastener aperture extending axially through the ring structure. The fastener is mated with the fastener aperture and abutted axially against the seal device.

A retention ring for a gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a main body extending in a circumferential direction about an axis to establish a continuous hoop having a first diameter and a second diameter. The main body includes first and second circumferential faces along opposite sides of the main body. The first circumferential face is dimensioned to abut a gas turbine engine component. The main body includes at least one removal feature dimensioned to sever in response to engagement with a cutting tool. A method of assembly is also disclosed.

A hydrostatic seal assembly includes a primary seal assembly configured to maintain a selected gap between the primary seal and a rotating component, and a seal carrier. The seal carrier includes a radial outer wall, an axial wall extending from the radial outer wall at a first axial end of the radial outer wall, and a carrier arm extending from the radial outer wall at a second axial end of the radial outer wall opposite the first axial end. The carrier arm is secured to a static structure for sealing between the rotating component and the static structure.

A hydrostatic seal assembly configured to be disposed between relatively rotatable components includes a base. The seal also includes a shoe operatively coupled to the base. The seal yet further includes a structural component located adjacent to the axially forward face of the secondary seal and extending radially inwardly to cover at least half of the radial distance of the secondary seal.

The spring elements include a first spring element. The first spring element is radially between and connects the first seal shoe and the seal base. The first seal shoe extends circumferentially about the axis between a first end and a second end. The first seal shoe extends radially between an inner side and an outer side. An air seal assembly for a gas turbine includes a flow path platform. The air seal assembly further includes a casing disposed radially outside the flow path platform. The air seal assembly further includes an annular finger seal mounted to the casing and disposed between the flow path platform and the casing. The annular finger seal includes a first circumferential portion mounted to the casing, a second circumferential portion extending from the first circumferential portion, and a third circumferential portion extending from the second circumferential portion and contacting an outer surface of the flow path platform. The third circumferential portion includes a plurality of air cooling holes configured to direct a cooling air stream onto the flow path platform.

A rotational equipment assembly includes a plurality of seal shoes, a seal base, a plurality of spring elements and a secondary seal assembly. The seal shoes are arranged circumferentially around an axial centerline and include a first seal shoe. The first seal shoe includes a first seal shoe base and a first seal shoe rib that projects axially out from the first seal shoe base to an axial distal end of the first seal shoe rib. The seal base extends circumferentially around the axial centerline. The spring elements include a first spring element that connects and extends between the first seal shoe and the seal base. The secondary seal assembly is configured to seal a gap between the seal base and the seal shoes. The secondary seal assembly includes a free floating seal plate that axially contacts and is configured to slide radially along the first seal shoe rib.

A hydrostatic seal assembly includes a primary seal configured to maintain a selected gap between the primary seal and a rotating component. The primary seal includes a seal support, a seal shoe, and one or more seal beams operably connecting the seal support to the seal shoe. The one or more seal beams are configured as spring elements integral with the seal shoe to allow radial movement of the seal shoe relative to the seal support. A seal carrier including a radial outer wall is configured to radially position the primary seal. The seal carrier is configured for a non-contact relationship with the seal shoe during operation of the hydrostatic seal assembly.

A seal ring for a non-contact seal may comprise an annular body comprising a first side surface, a second side surface, an outer surface, and an inner surface, and a plurality of window openings disposed in the annular body. The plurality of window openings may be configured to provide access to the seal for installation of a melting member to secure the seal shoes in an outboard direction during installation.

A rotor assembly is disclosed. In various embodiments, the rotor assembly includes a first rotor having a first plurality of tabs; a second rotor having a second plurality of tabs; and a rotor coupling ring having an anti-rotation tab configured for disposition between an adjacent pair of tabs from one of the first plurality of tabs or the second plurality of tabs.

An assembly for a gas turbine engine includes a first casing, a second casing, and struts extending from the first casing to support the second casing. The assembly further includes a fairing and a multi-piece heat shield assembly. The fairing is disposed between the first casing and the second casing and around each of the struts. The multi-piece heat shield assembly includes a first shield extending between the first casing and the fairing, and a second shield extending between the fairing and the first casing. The multi-piece heat shield assembly further includes a third shield extending between the fairing and the second casing, and fourth and fifth heat shields extending from the third heat shield between the fairing and each of the struts.

A seal plate for a gas turbine engine includes an annular wall provided about an axis and extending between first and second ends that are radially spaced from one another with respect to the axis. The first end includes an axially extending pilot. The second end includes an axially extending flange and an adjacent annular seal seat. The wall includes a portion between the first and second ends that extend substantially in the axial direction and is configured to permit the second end to move axially relative to the first end in response to thermal growth.
