A system for assessing laxity of a joint of a patient is disclosed. The system comprises a tensioner tool having a substantially rigid portion that may be inserted within the joint to apply a force against a bone surface thereof. The system further comprises a tensioner sock having a flexible body with an opening to receive the tensioner tool and a sensor array disposed on the flexible body. Each sensor of the sensor array is configured to contact the bone surface and detect a pressure when the force is applied against the bone surface. The system further comprises a processor configured to receive the detected pressure from each sensor and calculate the force applied to the bone surface based on the detected pressures.

Methods, non-transitory computer readable media, and ultrasound imaging apparatuses and systems that facilitate improved ultrasound imaging that emphasizes structures of interest are disclosed. With this technology, position data for a transducer assembly is continuously obtained along with ultrasound scan data captured via the transducer assembly. Image processing techniques are applied to ultrasound images generated from the ultrasound scan data to identify structure(s) of interest included therein and highlight the identified structures on a composite representation generated from the ultrasound images. The intensity of portions of the resulting composite representation is then adjusted to reflect the time in which the associated ultrasound scan data was captured. The composite representation is then output to an augmented reality headset or superimposed over an image of the patient to facilitate improved visibility and relation of the structures of interest.

A surgical system and method for markerless intraoperative navigation is provided. The system can includes a structured light system that can be utilized to intraoperatively sense three-dimensional surface geometry. The computer system is configured to segment a depth image to obtain surface geometry data of an anatomical structure embodied within the depth image, register the surface geometry data of the anatomical structure to a model, and update the surgical plan according to the registered surface geometry data. The surgical system is an endoscopic surgical system.

An ultrasound probe captures real-time images of patient anatomy, which are analyzed by a processor to extract salient features pertaining to an anatomical structure. By tracking the location and orientation of the ultrasound probe, a model of that anatomical structure can be created. The system comprises a hand covering including an opening to receive the hand and a plurality of trackable regions that each include at least one tracking feature. The system further comprises a tracking unit including one or more sensors configured to detect a location of each tracking feature. The system further comprises a processor configured to cause the system to receive the location of each tracking feature from the tracking unit, determine a position and an orientation of each trackable region of the hand covering, and calculate an overall position, orientation, and/or pose of the hand. Various actions or settings may be controlled within the surgical workspace by utilizing particular gestures or movements that are identified by the system via the processor.

A system for tracking resection planes during a surgical procedure includes a cutting block and a position tracker. The cutting block is configured to be mounted on an anterior surface of a bone during the surgical procedure. The cutting block comprises at least one slot configured to position a resection tool during the surgical procedure. The position tracker is configured to be directly attached to the cutting block after the cutting block is mounted on the anterior surface to allow positional tracking of the cutting block by a tracking device during the surgical procedure.

An augmented reality system and method for assisting surgical staff during an arthroplasty procedure includes a camera system configured to capture images of a surgical scene and a processor configured to determine from the images location and orientation information about one or more patient anatomical features and to maintain a three-dimensional model of these anatomical features within the surgical scene. The system models the field-of-view of augmented reality headsets worn by surgical staff, and maps this to the anatomical model, allowing the system to overlay relevant information to the user about particular anatomical features in the surgical plan.

Methods and apparatus for performing joint laxity measurement are disclosed. A retractor includes a plurality of spacers, such as plates, that are capable of being moved from a central portion of the retractor by a carriage mechanism. In some cases, the carriage mechanism may press against ramps connected to internal sides of the plates, thereby causing the plates to be displaced outwardly. In other cases, the carriage mechanism may include blades that rotate and press against the internal sides of the plates, thereby causing the plates to be displaced outwardly. When the retractor is placed in a joint and the carriage mechanism is actuated, a measurement of the joint laxity may be determined based upon characteristics of the retractor and/or the surgical device.
