An illustrative embodiment disclosed herein is an apparatus including a processor having programmed instructions to receive, from a client, a request to create a catalog item corresponding to a file, determine an identifier of a cluster manager associated with a cluster having available capacity, send, to the cluster manager, a source location of the catalog item, and cause the cluster manager to store the catalog item from the source location in the cluster.

System and method for catalog service

A method of managing servers of a distributed computer system by using an intent-based CLI (command line interface) executing by one or more processors of a remote computing device, the servers hosting a virtual cluster comprising one or more virtual machines. The method includes receiving, by a first server of the servers, a connection-request from the intent-based CLI to establish an encrypted connection between the first server and the remote computing device. The method includes authenticating the connection-request and establishing, in response to authenticating the connection-request, a first encrypted communication channel between the first server and the remote computing device. The method includes receiving, via the first encrypted communication channel, an operation-request for a list of intent-based operations supported by the first server. The method includes building, by the first server and in response to receipt of the operation-request, a list of intent-based operations supported by the first server.

Intent framework

Computer-aided computer system configuration techniques for adding new computing resources to an existing set of computing resources. A method embodiment commences upon identifying an existing computing system having a first set of configuration parameters. A second computing system having a second set of configuration parameters is deployed. A user interface is provided to accept user input comprising a location and protocol to access the existing computing system. Syntactical and semantic differences between the configuration parameters of the existing computing system and those of the newly added set are identified. The identified differences are analyzed to generate a parameter map that relates the existing set of configuration parameters to the second set of configuration parameters and vice-versa. Relationships that are codified in the parameter map are validated through user interactions. The second set of configuration parameters are modified or augmented such that parameters can be synchronized between the two computing systems.

Methods for synchronizing configurations between computing systems using human computer interfaces

Particular embodiments comprise (1) a cluster of host machines, each comprising at least one virtual machine (VM), one or more virtual infrastructure elements, and one or more required drivers for implementing the virtualization environment, and (2) a target host machine capable of implementing the virtualization environment based on a second platform, wherein the target host machine comprises at least one VM and one or more virtual infrastructure elements. A management module for the system performs steps to move one of the VMs from the cluster of host machines to the target host machine by checking whether the target host machine comprises one or more required drivers for implementing the virtualization environment and, if the target host machine comprises the one or more required drivers, activating the one or more required drivers, and sending a confirmation signal back to a control plane in the cluster of host machines.
