Emulation of multiple NFC devices inside a communication device

A NFC tag includes an NFC controller, with a secure element coupled to the NFC controller. The secure element is to send first configuration data to the NFC controller and not second configuration data. The first configuration data comprises data to be used by the NFC controller to generate responses to initial polling and anti-collision commands from an external NFC device and not data to be used by the NFC controller in processing a command from the external NFC device involving the use of an upper layer protocol. The second configuration data comprises data to be used by the NFC controller in processing a command involving the use of an upper layer protocol from the external NFC device.

NFC device configuration after device power up

A method in a signal generating unit, SGU, generates a signal to be used in a Near-Field Communication, NFC, reader. The SGU is configured to communicate with an NFC controller unit, NFC-CU, and with an NFC-Wired Interface unit, NFC-WIU. The NFC-CU and the SGU are included in an NFC device, and the NFC-WIU is connected to the NFC device. The SGU receives a first signal that includes data encoding information indicating a first unique identifier supported by the NFC-CU, from the NFC-CU, and a second signal that includes data encoding information indicating a second unique identifier supported by the NFC-WIU, from the NFC-WIU. The SGU generates a third signal to be used in the NFC reader to generate a collision sequence, based on the first signal and the second signal. An SGU configured to perform the method, and a NFC device that includes the SGU are also provided.

Emulation of multiple devices in an NFC device

An embedded host controller, for use in a USB system comprising a processor and an associated system memory, comprises a DMA controller, and the host controller is adapted such that, in order to retrieve data from the associated system memory, a starting address and block length are sent to the DMA controller, and the DMA controller is adapted such that, on receipt of a starting address and block length sent from the host controller, it retrieves the indicated data from the associated system memory. This has the advantage that the embedded host controller can be used with different host microprocessors, without assuming that PCI functionality is available.
