A repeater device comprises a periodic array of alternating metallic phase shifting elements, the array being periodic in at least one axis, formed on a first surface of a dielectric substrate, with an opposite surface of the dielectric substrate having a ground plane formed thereon, wherein each phase shifting element provides from 0&#xb0; to 360&#xb0; phase shifting in the microwave frequency range. A system having a concealed communications element like a telecommunication antenna is described. More specifically, The system has a communications element that is concealed by a highly reflective multilayer polymer optical film. The first element of the multilayer polymer optical film is a core layerthat is made up of a multilayer optical stack. The multilayer optical stack of core layerincludes two alternating polymeric layers. The multilayer polymer optical film may optionally also include a protective layer(for example, a hardcoat or an over laminate) that is positioned between the viewer and the core layer. The protective layermay include one or more UV absorbers to aid in durability of the multilayer polymer optical film against UV-degradation. Multilayer polymer optical filmmay optionally also include an adhesive layerthat is positioned between the core layerand a surface onto which the multilayer polymer optical film is to be adhered.

An antenna for wireless communication comprises a dielectric substrate having a first side and an opposite second side. A first major arm having a first modified log-spiral spiral pattern is disposed on the first side of the dielectric substrate. A second major arm having a second modified log-spiral pattern is disposed on the second side of the dielectric substrate, wherein the first and second major arms are formed from a conductive material. A connector coupling is disposed at a center of the modified log-spiral patterns, the connector coupling having a first portion coupled to the first major arm and a second portion coupled to the second major arm. The antenna is self-complementary. The antenna can achieve a return loss better than 10 dB over a broadband range.
