A shorting block (10) for use with a header connector (51), includes an insulative housing (12) having a plurality of cavities (14) therein for receipt of the corresponding pin contacts (64) of the header connector (51). A conductive bar (40) attached to the housing (12), has a plurality of arms (44) extending therefrom and adapted to respectively projecting into the corresponding cavities (14) in the housing (12) for respective mechanical and electrical engagement with the pin contacts (64), of the connector (51), received within the cavities (14) of the housing (12) so that pin contacts (64) of the connector (51) engaging the arms (44) of the conductive bar (40) are designedly electrically connected in a form of closed circuit for compliance with the whole operative circuitry. An optional cover (30) is detachably assembled onto the housing (12) for shielding the conductive bar (40) therein.

Device for short-circuiting for use with connector

A socket connector (1) includes an insulative housing (10) having a central slot (12) therein along its lengthwise direction for receiving a lower edge portion (101) of a daughter board (100) therein. A plurality of passageways (14, 16) are arranged staggered on two sides along the slot (12) for receiving the upper row contacts (60) and the lower row contacts (80) therein for electrical engagement with the corresponding circuit traces (108) on two sides of the daughter board (100). Two arms (20) respectively extend forwardly from two ends of the housing (10) and each arm (20) thereon forms a platform (22) for allowing the inserted daughter board (100) to sit thereon. A metal latch (40) including a generally U-shaped body (46) and a retention blade (44) separately and respectively independently extend from a main base (42) so that the latch (40) can be reliably securely retained horizontally within each arm (20) of the housing (10) wherein the hook (54) of the latch (40) upwardly extends out of the platform (22) for engagement with the daughter board (100) thereon, and the lever (56) of the latch (40) extends forwardly out of the front end surface (21) of the arm (20) for easy manually operative deflection.

Electrical connector assembly and contacts therein

A card edge socket connector (1) includes an insulative elongated housing (10) having a plurality of contact slots (14) side by side vertically extending therethrough. A plurality of contacts (90) are received within the corresponding contact slots (14), respectively. A central board slot (12) extends in the housing (10) in the lengthwise direction for reception of the bottom edge portion of daughter board (100) inserted therein whereby the contacts (90) are electrically engaged with the traces on the bottom edge portion of the daughter board (100). An ejector (50) is pivotally positioned in a cavity (30) at one end of the housing (10) and a pair of separate latches (70) are positioned adjacent such ejector (50) but segregative and spaced therefrom by substantially a portion of the insulative housing (10) for latchably sandwiching and engaging within a retaining (92) hole of the daughter board (100) when the daughter board (100) is received in the board slot (12) in the connector housing (10). Such ejector (50) has a hook section (54) for pushing the bottom edge portion of the daughter board (100) upwardly and releasing the daughter board (100) from the connector (1), accordingly. The housing (10) of the connector (1) itself has a closed type opening on the top in the lengthwise direction which efficiently aligns and orients the daughter board (100) in the lengthwise direction for avoiding any misalignment of the daughter board (100) during the insertion process.

Dual readout socket connector

An electrical connector with manual retainer and enhanced contact coupling is provided which comprises: an insulative mounting socket (30) including a base portion (35), slots (38) formed on the top face of the base portion, a wall (31) upstanding from the top of the base portion, and indents (33) formed on the bottom face (39) of the base portion; a retainer (10) including a main surface (11) sized to fit over the electrical component (20) received in the mounting socket, at least a first and a second stuffer (12) depending downward from the main surface and sized to fit against the leads (22) received in the slots; at least a first and a second latch mechanism each including at least one fulcrum (12) coupled to the stuffer, a lever bar (17) coupled to the fulcrum, at least one leg (14) depending downward from the lever bar, a latch protrusion (16) coupled to the leg and formed to extend on the outside of the wall such that the first latch protrusion physically contacts with the indents when the retainer is aligned on the mounting socket; a plurality of conductive contacts (50) mounted inside the base portion such that the contacts extend through the top face and the bottom face of the base portion, such contacts including a horizontal beam 53, a vertical beam (54), a grip mechanism (52), a first resilient (55) and second resilient (56) portion and portion (57).

Electrical socket connector with manual retainer and enhanced contact

An electrical connector assembly (40) includes an insulative housing (44) defining a slot (46) formed in the front side of the housing (44). The insulative housing (44) also defines a first signal passages (48, 48a, 49, 49a) and second power passages (56, 56a) which each extend through the insulative housing (44) between the front side (55) and the rear side (57) of the housing (44). Moreover, each first and second passage (48, 48a, 49, 49a, 56, 56a) includes an opening (51, 51a, 54, 54a) into the slot (46). The electrical connector (40) of the present invention also includes a plurality of signal and power conductive members (50, 50a, 52, 52a, 58, 58a) each of which includes a respective signal and power contact portions (60, 60a, 64, 64a). The signal and power conductive members (50, 50a, 52, 52a, 58, 58a ) are further dimensioned to be positioned in the first and second respective passages (48, 48a, 49, 49a, 56, 56a) such that each respective signal and power contact portions (60, 60a, 64, 64a) extend through the respective openings (51, 51a, 54, 54a). The contact portions (60, 60a, 64, 64a) protrude into the slot (46) to contact respective signal and power conductive pads (33) when the PCB edge (24) is received in the slot (46). Therefore, the electrical connector (40) provides for the peripheral signal interconnections and the power line transmission interconnections to be communicated therethrough. In another aspect of the present invention, the electrical connector (40) may be mounted directly to the computer chassis (23).

All-in-one interconnection assembly

An inherently resilient metallic latch structure is provided for use in connection with a socket structure for a memory module board. The latch structure is separately manufacturable from the socket structure, and is applied thereto in a separate operation, and is effective to retain the memory module board against inadvertent release from the socket. For intentional release of the memory module from the socket, the latch requires only a downwardly directed force to be applied to a latch lever forming an integral part of the latch to impose a bending moment on the latch, effectively releasing the memory module board from the socket and permitting resilient ejection of the board from the socket. In a second aspect, the latch is integrally formed with the socket body, but includes an integral latch lever that may be depressed by application of a downwardly directed force to impose a bending moment on the latch to release the memory module board from the socket.
