Systems and methods are disclosed for measuring pulsed laser output. An example system comprises a laser configured to emit output in pulses; at least one sensor positioned to sense laser output and configured to convert that output into electrical signals; an edge detector configured to detect at least leading edges of a plurality of laser pulses; an analog to digital converter configured to convert electrical signals from a sensor into digital signals indicative of laser power output; and a controller; wherein, based on the detection of at least the leading edges of the laser pulses, the controller is configured to obtain samples of laser power output during each of the laser pulses. The system may use the samples of laser power output in a feedback loop to automatically adjust laser power.

Particular embodiments disclosed herein provide a surgical laser system comprising a laser source, a lens, a memory, and a processor in data communication with the memory and configured to execute instructions which cause the processor to control the laser source based on a detection signal received from a circuit. The circuit comprises a first amplifier, a second amplifier, and a switch coupled between the second amplifier and a reference potential node and whose state is based on an output of a first comparator. The circuit further comprises a second comparator coupled to the second amplifier and a logic gate coupled to the first comparator and the second comparator.

A surgical console has a receptacle for receiving a surgical fluidics cassette. The receptacle has a light source that transmits light to light pipes in the surgical fluidics cassette. The light pipes transmit light to a light transmissive optical interface surrounded by an opaque frame in the surgical fluidics cassette. The opaque frame is located at a fluid level detection system in the cassette. The system illuminates fluidic connectors on the surgical fluidics cassette without interfering with the fluid level detection system of a surgical console.

Systems and methods for driving the cutter of a vitrectomy handpiece using a substantially hermetically sealed system having a pneumatic pump for alternatively creating both positive pressure for pushing a first side of a diaphragm in the vitreous cutter and pulling negative pressure to pull the other side of the diagram, and vice versa.

A high frequency electrosurgical power generator configured to produce electrical power at a frequency of about 1 to about 14 MHz and preferably having an essentially sinusoidal waveform with a voltage level up to 1,000 Vrms, and a current level up to 5 Amps. The output of the high frequency electrosurgical power generator is connected to an electrosurgical tool configured to receive the voltage and current produced by the electrosurgical power generator and deliver the voltage and current to an electrosurgical site. The output of the electrosurgical generator preferably is an essentially sinusoid waveform with a frequency between about 3 MHz and about 8 MHz, up to about 700 volts rms, up to about 2 amps, with a total power of up to 1,000 watts.
