A utility line support beam resists compressive forces while preventing moisture from entering the interior of the beam. A reinforcing member is placed within the interior of the beam. The reinforcing member is positioned to absorb any compressive forces resulting from either mounting the beam on a utility pole or mounting other structures to the beam. The beam is sealed to prevent moisture from entering.

Utility line support member

A method for drying a moist organic material which is continuously supplied in a stream includes passing hot air through the moist organic material in a part of the stream to absorb an amount of moisture, whereby the moist organic material cools the hot air into warm air. The warm air is reheated after it exits the moist organic material to form reheated air with increased capability of absorbing moisture, and the reheated air is passed through the moist organic material further upstream, which has a greater moisture content. The drying can preferably be performed in five minutes or less. A method for drying moist organic material using hot air includes providing the moist organic material in a continuous material stream, and providing the hot air in a continuous air stream. The air stream flows in a direction generally opposite to that of the material stream. The air stream is passed perpendicularly through the material stream at a plurality of zones, whereby the hot air absorbs an amount of moisture from the moist organic material in each zone. The air stream is reheated after it exits the material stream at one zone and before it enters the material stream at another zone further upstream.

Method of drying moist organic material

A utility line support structure for use as a tangent crossarm or deadend including a hollow fiber reinforced beam with a bushing inserted into a transverse hole in the beam. Bushing includes a hollow inner member for receiving a bolt and a pair of integral washers arranged on opposite ends of inner member and against an outer surface of the beam. The hollow inner member and the integral washers cooperate to support axial loads applied by the bolt. End caps extend over opposite ends of the beam to seal the beam so as to prevent moisture from entering the beam. Also, a method for adapting a non-standard-sized utility line support beam to be compatible with standard-sized tooling.

Pultruded utility line support structure and method

A method and apparatus for a low-cost, single-step method of in-line coating of pultrusion profiles to eliminate surface degradation of pultruded profiles due to outdoor exposure or corrosive attack. The method comprises pulling a combination of reinforcing fibers and resin through a pultrusion die to form a pultruded part, applying a coating to the pultruded part after it exits the pultrusion die and curing the coating on the coated pultruded part. The apparatus contains a pultrusion die for forming a pultruded part of a predetermined shape, a coating die with an exit area generally greater than the inlet area, a coating chamber located between the entrance and exit area of the coating die for applying a coating to the pultruded part, and a curing element for curing the coating on the pultruded part after it exits the coating die.

Apparatus and method for in-line coating of pultrusion profiles

A harvester apparatus is provided for drying and baling forage crops in the field. The harvester apparatus includes an inlet for conveying forage crops to a dryer arrangement of the harvester where the forage crops are substantially evenly dried as they are conveyed through the dryer arrangement. The harvester apparatus includes compacting structure for compacting the forage crops before the drying process in completed. The harvester apparatus produces a layer of dried and compacted forage crops which are exited from the harvester apparatus at an exit which is adjacent a baling mechanism for securing the forage crops into bales. The layer of forage crops is converted by the baling mechanism into a column of stacked blocks secured together to form a bale.

Apparatus for harvesting and drying crops

An arrow and method of making it. The arrow has a hollow arrow shaft, a single piece adaptor having one end with an outer diameter and a cylindrical bore with an inner surface adhesively engageable about a first end of the shaft and an externally threaded opposite end. An inclined surface surrounds the externally threaded end and tapers inwardly from the outer diameter of the one end towards the bore. The inclined surface has a diameter greater than that of the external threads. The external threads and inclined surface receive and retain an arrow point with internal threads and inclined surface so that impact forces are not transmitted to the inner surface of the shaft. A balance pin has a shaft portion received in the arrow shaft, and a head portion interconnected to one end of the balance pin shaft portion. The head portion has a diameter greater than the shaft portion outer diameter and smaller than the inner diameter of the cylindrical bore. The method comprises the steps of: providing the end adapter and balance pin, inserting the balance pin shaft portion in the shaft opening until the balance pin head portion abuts the arrow shaft, adhesively engaging a portion of the inner surface of the adaptor bore with the outer surface of the shaft, threading an arrow point with an inclined surface on the externally threaded end of the adaptor, and contacting the inclined surface of the outer surface of the inclined point with the inclined surface of the adaptor.

Arrow shaft end adaptor apparatus and balance pin apparatus and method

An electric fence controller (20) interconnected to electric fence terminals (136, 138) by a three terminal spark gap arrangement (140) one terminal (142) being interconnected to the fence hot terminal (136), a second terminal (144) being interconnected to the fence ground terminal (138) and a third terminal (146) being interconnected to utility ground (48). High voltage surges on the electric fence will thus be diverted either to the local fence ground terminal (138) or to the utility ground (48) whichever ground has the least resistance to ground thereby assuring an effective ground so as to prevent damage due to lightning strikes.

Lightning protected electric fence controller system and method

An arrow end adaptor and a balance pin for an arrow and a method for making the same. The arrow comprising a ferrule having a large enough inner diameter to be placed over the arrow shaft, and further having an exterior threaded end whose diameter is smaller than the diameter of the arrow shaft. The point cap is designed such that an arrow point having interior threads may be attached to the exterior threaded end of the point cap. The balance pin is designed to have a head at one end that may be affixed to either a target point or a point cap and a shaft end that may be inserted into the arrow shaft.

Disclosed is a rail-type fence using electricity which includes a plurality of support posts between which are extended continuous electrical wires. The electrical wire is enclosed within and supports a conductive tubular rail. The wire is held against the inner wall of the tubular rail by end plugs and splices. An alternate embodiment of the rail-type fence includes a plurality of electrified wires positioned within the outer surface of the walls of a nonconductive tubular rail. In this embodiment, a conductive end plug transfers electricity from the electrical wire within the tubular rail to the electrified wires embedded in the rail's walls.

A flooring grating including a plurality of spaced I-beam support members (12) is disclosed. A plurality of interconnecting members (14) interconnect the I-beam support members (12) in a predetermined spaced, parallel relationship. Each of the interconnecting members (14) includes a central core member (16) and first and second outer spacer members (18) positioned in longitudinally extending channel-like portions (30) on opposite sides of the central core member (16). The top surface of the outer spacer members (18) is notched at intervals corresponding to the spacing between adjacent I-beam support members (12). The outer spacer members (18) are securedly attached to the central core member (16) by a suitable adhesive. The central core member (16) and the outer spacer members (18) cooperate as an integral unit to retain the I-beam support members (12) in a predetermined spaced relationship.

Lock rod system for flooring grating and method for assembling same

A fence post and wire support for electric fences wherein the post is made of unidirectional glass fibers in a plastic resin and has a T-shaped cross section. The resulting structure is light but rigid, and has flat surfaces which eliminate the need for an anchor plate. A number of wire-like clips are adapted for crimping around the post or for resiliently engaging the post to form a wire support. The wire-like clips are designed to cooperate with the T-shaped cross section of the post to provide a secure mounting thereto. Alternatively, a rubber-like wire support having two ring portions which fit snugly around the post, and having a hinge portion joining the ring portions may serve as the wire holder.
