An electronic meeting is attended by participants with touch-sensitive display devices. An electronic meeting server allows a group of selected participants to edit a shared document during the meeting. Another group of participants may cast votes during the meeting using objects at least partially created during the meeting. Each participant has an active stylus for interfacing with a touch-sensitive display device during the meeting. The active stylus has a stylus identification signal associated with each participant. The stylus identification signal allows for selection and management of the editing and voting groups and allows multiple participants to share a touch-sensitive display device.

There are described tools and methodologies for building Read Only Memory (ROM) mask software images and the corresponding data/code patching software images. One method is for creating ROM mask content having patch references included therein whereby patch reference errors are detected and corrected. A system and method is provided for use in a mobile electronic device for adjusting brightness of a display on the mobile electronic device. The method comprises collecting a plurality of light sensor samples using an ambient light sensor of the mobile electronic device; calculating a representative value of the plurality of light sensor samples; comparing the representative value to at least one brightness threshold value; determining if a predetermined application is active on the mobile electronic device; determining whether to adjust the brightness of the display based on the comparison and based on whether predetermined application is active on the device; and adjusting the brightness of the display.

Method and apparatus for automatic brightness adjustment on a display of a mobile electronic device

A method is set forth for automatically adjusting screen and keypad brightness on a mobile electronic device having a light sensor, display screen and keypad, for optimum legibility under varying lighting conditions, with minimal eye strain and distraction. The method includes obtaining light level samples from the light sensor, and independently adjusting backlight intensity of the display screen and keypad responsive to the light level samples. Preferably, correct screen and keypad adjustments are made responsive to pulling the handheld device out of its holster notwithstanding non-optimal ambient light detection while the device is being removed from the holster. According to another aspect, the described method allows for ambient light detection in a handheld device where the light sensor and a message notification indicator share a common light pipe.

Automatic screen and keypad brightness adjustment on a mobile handheld electronic device

The disclosure relates to a system and method for determining pixel intensity values (luma values) for an image being displayed on a display of an electronic device, then adjusting the pixel intensity and the backlight level for the image that is output to a liquid crystal display (LCD). The system comprises: a display for displaying an image to be displayed on the device; an image adjustment module to identify the pixel intensity values of the image, to determine new pixel intensity values for the image based in part on the original pixel intensity values, to provide the (adjusted) image at the new pixel intensity values to the display and to determine a backlight level for the image at the new pixel intensity values. The system further comprises a backlight system to provide a backlight for the adjusted image at the adjusted backlight level.

System and method for adjusting an intensity value and a backlight level for a display of an electronic device

A system and method manages configuration data within a hardware component of a device to support hardware component changes during development or manufacture of the device. A Standardized Virtual Part (SVP) file is formed as a binary file and includes a SVP header that comprises metadata of one of at least schema version, revision numbers, part numbers, creator and description. The SVP file also includes hardware configuration data and a SVP trailer that includes error checking data for data authentication. The SVP file is loaded onto the device during development or manufacture for configuring the hardware component.
