Systems and methods of optical transcutaneous oxygenation monitoring. The oxygenation monitor comprises a photoluminescent oxygen-sensitive probe, a photon source positioned to direct photons at the probe, a photodetector positioned to detect light emitted from the probe when the photon source directs photons at the probe, a controller in electrical communication with the photon source and the photodetector, the controller being configured to execute a program stored in the controller to calculate a level of oxygen adjacent the probe from an electrical signal received from the photodetector. The photon source, the photodetector, and the controller are disposed in or on a support structure.

Systems and methods of optical transcutaneous oxygenation monitoring

Compounds, systems, and methods are provided for the design and assembly of a non-invasive, analyte sensing dressing. The dressing can be therapeutic. The dressing includes a sensor and a matrix. The sensor is capable of detecting analytes such as molecular oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitric oxides, dissolved analytes in plasma, and hydrogen ions. The matrix is at least partially permeable to the analyte. The device emits a detectable signal when the sensor is excited in the presence of the analyte. In one version of the dressing, the sensor includes a meso-unsubstituted metallated porphyrin that is sensitive towards oxygen. The metallated porphyrin can be excited when illuminated at a first wavelength, followed by emission of phosphorescence at a second wavelength whose intensity can be used as an indicator for oxygen concentration.

Compounds, systems, and methods for monitoring and treating a surface of a subject

Compounds, systems, and methods are provided for the design and assembly of a non-invasive, analyte sensing dressing that includes a sensor and a matrix. The sensor is capable of detecting analytes such as molecular oxygen. The matrix is at least partially permeable to the analyte. In one version of the dressing, the sensor includes a meso-unsubstituted metallated porphyrin that is sensitive towards oxygen. The metallated porphyrin can be excited when illuminated at a first wavelength, followed by emission of phosphorescence at a second wavelength whose intensity can be used as an indicator for oxygen concentration. The metallated porphyrin can be prepared from a phosphorescent meso-unsubstituted porphyrin having the Formula (I): wherein M is a metal, wherein each R is independently an atom or a group of atoms, and wherein at least one R is &#x2014;O(C)OR', wherein R&#x2032; is optionally substituted alkyl.

A system for visualizing melanin present in tissue can include an imaging system to record a signal based on a presence of melanin in tissue and a display device to display an image based on the signal. A first laser source can emit a Stokes pulse train and a second laser source can emit a pump pulse train. Both the first laser source and the second laser source comprise a tunable center wavelength or frequency. An energy difference between a frequency of the Stokes pulse train and a frequency of the pump pulse train is from 1750 cmto 2250 cm. The Stokes and the pump pulse train overlap in space and time. A scanning mechanism focuses the combined Stokes pulse train and pump pulse train within the tissue and scans across the tissue. A detector detects the signal based on a presence of melanin within the tissue.

Non-invasive visualization and quantification of natural pigments

A method for detecting a target cell surface molecule and classifying cell types in a fluid sample. The method involves the addition of a reagent to the fluid sample. The reagent includes nanoparticles with optical plasmonic resonances, and at least one fluorescent probe. The nanoparticles are a bio-optical probe for the target cell surface molecule. Each fluorescent probe targets a cell classification marker. The method further involves the acquisition of an image using dark field microscopy and fluorescence microscopy to detect and quantify the presence or absence of any cells in the fluid sample having the target cell surface molecule or having the cell classification marker.

Plasmonic nanoparticle immunoassay method

In one aspect, the present disclosure provides a system A system, including a light source, a detector, and a controller in electrical communication with the light source and the detector. The controller is configured to execute a program stored in the controller to trigger the light source to emit a first pulse of light having a first pulse duration for illumination of a target, actuate the detector after a first delay time following emission of the first pulse of light to begin detecting a first signal from the target for a first detection time, and repeat the steps of triggering the light source and actuating the detector at least once, varying for each repetition at least one of the first pulse duration, the first delay time, and the first detection time.

Exemplary apparatus and/or method can be provided using which, it is possible to provide information associated with at least one portion of a sample. For example, at least one electro-magnetic radiation received from the at least one portion of the sample can be separated into a plurality of first radiations, one of the first radiations having a phase delay that is different from a phase delay of another of the first radiations. In addition, at least one of the first radiations can be received and separated into second radiations according to wavelengths of the received at least one of the first radiations. Further, it is possible to detect the second radiations and generate information regarding a position of the at least one portion of the sample as a function of at least one characteristic of at least one interference of the first radiations. According to another exemplary embodiment, it is possible to provide system, method and computer accessible medium, in which data associated with first radiations can be obtained, and the information regarding a position of the at least one portion of the sample may be generated. Such information can be generated based on the data by separating second radiations associated with the portion(s) of the sample according to wavelengths of at least one of the second radiations. For example, one of the second radiations can have a phase delay that is different from a phase delay of another one of the second radiations, and the second radiations may be interfering.

System and method for self-interference fluorescence microscopy, and computer-accessible medium associated therewith

The invention provides a system and method for automatic real-time monitoring for the presence of a pathogen in water using coherent anti-stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy. Water sample trapped in a trapping medium is provided to a CARS imager. CARS images are provided to a processor for automatic analyzing for the presence of image artifacts having pre-determined features characteristic to the pathogen. If a match is found, a CARS spectrum is taken and compared to a stored library of reference pathogen-specific spectra for pathogen identification. The system enables automatic pathogen detection in flowing water in real time.

Pathogen detection using coherent anti-stokes Raman scattering microscopy

A system is disclosed for detecting a signal field from a sample volume. The system includes a source system and an optical fiber system. The source system provides a first electromagnetic field at a first frequency and a second electromagnetic field at a second frequency that is different from the first frequency. The optical fiber system includes at least one optical fiber for guiding the first and second electromagnetic fields to the sample volume to generate coherent radiation characteristic of molecular vibrations by non-linear interaction of the first and second fields with the sample volume. The optical fiber system also receives the signal field resulting from the coherent radiation, and guides the signal field to a detector.

System and method for coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering endoscopy

A system is disclosed for detecting a non-linear coherent field induced in a sample volume. The system includes a first source for generating a first electromagnetic field at a first frequency, a second source for generating a second electromagnetic field at a second frequency, first optics for directing the first and second electromagnetic fields toward the sample volume, second optics for directing the first and second electromagnetic fields toward a local oscillator volume, and an interferometer. The interferometer is for interfering a first scattering field that is generated by the interaction of the first and second electromagnetic fields in the sample volume, with a second scattering field that is generated by the interaction of the first and second electromagnetic fields in the local oscillator volume.
