A seal ring for a seal assembly includes a body and a seal flange. The body is generally cylindrical, extending along a longitudinal axis between a load end and a seal end. The seal flange is disposed adjacent the seal end of the body, projecting radially in a circumscribing manner from the body. The seal flange includes a sealing face having a sealing band for sealing contact with a mating seal ring. A layer of coating composition formulated to help increase the corrosion resistance of the seal ring is applied to at least the body. A mask is applied to the seal ring to cover at least a portion of the seal ring having the layer of coating composition applied thereto such that the sealing band remains exposed. The sealing band is polished by an isotropic finishing process. The mask is removed after the sealing band is isotropically polished.

A face seal assembly includes a first and a second metallic sealing ring having a common center axis, and each including an outer ring surface and an inner ring surface. A non-metallic sealing element is positioned upon the outer ring surface. The metallic sealing ring also includes a sealing face facing an axially outward direction and extending circumferentially around the center axis in a path that varies from parallelism with a plane normal to the center axis. A stiffness relief groove extends inwardly from the inner ring surface and circumferentially around the center axis and forms an annular spring zone of reduced material thickness to compensate for the varying of the path of the sealing face. One machine system application includes a final drive in a ground-engaging machine.

A face seal member includes a cylindrical annular body defining a cylindrical axis, a radial direction, a first axial extremity, a second axial extremity, an outside radial extremity and an inside radial extremity, a face sealing surface including a clearance surface, a contact region disposed radially adjacent the clearance surface that defines a contact plane, and a tapered surface extending radially from the contact region that defines a taper angle with the contact plane that increases as the tapered surface progresses further radially from the contact region toward the inside radial extremity.

A seal having a body defining an inner surface and an outer surface. The seal includes a layer of coating deposited on the body, the layer of coating including a material exhibiting oleophobic and hydrophobic properties for both the inner surface and the outer surface.

Coating for seal assembly

A track roller for a mobile machine is disclosed. The track roller may have a shaft defining a central axis, and a roller body connected to the shaft and configured to rotate around the central axis relative to the shaft. The track roller may also have a sealing member positioned between the shaft and the roller body, and a collar member secured to the shaft and at least partially covering the sealing member. A passageway having an opening may be defined between the collar member and the roller body. The track roller may further have a guard member secured to the shaft, the guard member having a main body and an upper rim extending from the main body towards the roller body. The guard member may also have a plurality of projections extending from the main body towards the roller body, and a plurality of openings formed between the upper rim and the projections.
