A box for storing a battery or the like comprises a plurality of upstanding panels (11-14) defining a storage compartment (16) and a removable cover (18) disposed over the compartment. A door (24) is movably mounted adjacent to the compartment and when closed firmly by a latch (26) holds the cover in place to attenuate noise emanating in the storage box. A sound suppressor (37) extends inwardly from the door to overlie the cover to engage and hold the cover against a support (20-23) and to attenuate noise.

The invention is concerned with an improvement in an engine compartment of a vehicle which includes an opening through a sidewall thereof and a panel secured to cover said opening and removable to allow access to components within said compartment. The improvement comprises an improved mounting for attachment of the panel to the engine compartment. The improved mounting comprises a metallic plate rigidly affixed to a first side of the sidewall and having a portion thereof extending to the vicinity of the opening and a metal leaf rigidly affixed to a second side of the sidewall and having a portion thereof extending to the vicinity of the opening in alignment with and a spaced distance from the extending plate portion, the leaf and the plate defining a mouth for accepting the panel, the spaced distance being smaller than the thickness of the panel thereadjacent. Generally, a plurality of mountings are used along a first edge of the opening and serve to hold a first edge of the panel thereadjacent.

Engine side guard mounting

A seat support prop for use with a retractable seat assembly. The prop is arranged to support the seat in a retracted position such as for providing access to the space normally below the seat. The prop includes a latch pin received in a guide slot of a mounting element of the retractable seat assembly. The slot includes an intermediate transfer portion obliquely related to a guide portion thereof in which the pin is received when the seat is in the seating position. The slot is generally U-shaped with the transfer portion defining the bight thereof and extending at a substantial angle to the horizontal when the seat is in the seating position. The guide portion extends at a small angle to the horizontal when the seat is in the seating position. The latching portion extends generally perpendicular to the transfer portion. The prop structure requires that the seat assembly be moved beyond the retracted position both to effect the latching thereof and the release thereof in the selective positioning of the seat assembly.
