A computer can be programmed to determine that an impact to a wheel of a vehicle exceeds an impact severity threshold and transmit a message describing the impact via a vehicle communications network. An electronic controller can be programmed to make an adjustment to monitoring the component based on receiving the message in the electronic controller.

Vehicle wheel impact detection and response

A sensor assembly for a vehicle includes a base, a sensor body mounted to the base and rotatable relative to the base around an axis in a direction of rotation, and a cover. The sensor body includes a sensor window and a wall having heat fins elongated circumferentially relative to the axis. The cover is positioned to cover the heat fins. The cover includes an inlet open in the direction of rotation. The cover defines an airflow path from the inlet through the heat fins. The cover includes an outlet positioned to direct air across the sensor window.

Rotating sensor assembly

A computer, including a processor and a memory, the memory including instructions to be executed by the processor to identify patterns in first high anticipation scenarios based on user identification, wherein high anticipation scenarios include video sequences wherein a first vehicle will be within a specified distance of a first object in a first environment around the first vehicle, wherein user identification is determined by viewing portions of a respective video sequence. A first model including a first deep neural network can be trained to determine second high anticipation scenarios based on the patterns identified in the first high anticipation scenarios and a second model including a second deep neural network can be trained to modify locations and velocities of second objects in the first high anticipation scenarios and output modified high anticipation scenarios. The computer can be further programmed to train a third model including a third deep neural network to operate a vehicle based on the modified high anticipation scenarios output by the second model.

A computer that may be programmed to: in response to receiving an indication that a vehicle is approaching a geofence boundary, retract slack in a webbing associated with a seat in the vehicle by actuating a seatbelt retractor; then receive measurement data from one or more sensors associated with the seat; using the data, determine whether an occupant occupies the seat; and when no occupant occupies the seat, then transmit an instruction to stop the vehicle.

The system generates compensated rotational rates and translational accelerations to reduce gain errors or offset errors of the inertial measurement unit based on the estimated rotational rates and translational accelerations.

A method for disposing of a pyrotechnic safety device includes providing an electronic control unit having a primary control unit and an auxiliary control unit. The auxiliary control unit includes a safing mode and a scrap mode, and operates in the safing mode in an initial state. The auxiliary control unit is switched from the safing mode to the scrap mode when the primary control unit sends a first predetermined signal. The auxiliary control unit is armed only if it receives a second predetermined signal from the primary control unit while the auxiliary control unit is operating in the scrap mode. The primary control unit sends the first and second predetermined signals to the auxiliary control unit based on signals the primary control unit receives from an external source. The primary control unit then disposes of a pyrotechnic safety device (PSD) by sending a deployment signal to the PSD based on another signal received from the external source.

Fail-safe apparatus and method for disposal of automobile pyrotechnic safety devices

A multi-sensor network having a plurality of receivers and sensors connected to a common communication line is provided. A controller will activate one of the plurality of receivers, thereby allowing one of the plurality of sensors to transmit data to the communication line. The plurality of sensors each individually have a logic device preventing more than one sensor from transmitting data in a given time interval.

A backup power supply for a restraint control module is disclosed that includes a main power source that is connected to a backup power source charging circuit. A boost converter control and driver circuit is connected with the main power source and the backup power source such that the boost converter control and driver circuit controls the charging of the backup power source with the main power source during normal operation. A backup power supply control and driver circuit is connected with a backup power supply switching device. The backup power supply control and driver circuit switches the source of power from the main power source to the backup power source when the backup power supply control circuit senses a loss of power from the main power source.

Backup power supply for restraint control module

A non-inverting dual voltage regulation set point power supply for a restraint control module is disclosed that includes a main power source. A regulated voltage generation circuit connected with said main power source for generating a regulated output voltage having an upper set point and a lower set point. A buck switch connected to said main power source and said regulated voltage generation circuit for bucking the regulated output voltage generated by said regulated voltage generation circuit to said upper set point if said voltage supplied from said main power source is greater than said upper set point. A boost switch connected with said regulated voltage generation circuit for boosting the regulated output voltage generated by said regulated voltage generation circuit to said lower set point if said voltage supplied from said main power source is less than said lower set point.

Non-inverting dual voltage regulation set point power supply using a single inductor for restraint control module

A method of testing a high-side driver and a low-side driver in an airbag squib circuit includes preliminary testing of squib resistance and squib leakage for a plurality of trials. Next, one of the drivers is turned on while keeping the other one of the drivers off. A current-limited power supply supplies an intermediate voltage to a squib terminal and the voltage at the terminal is continuously compared with a predetermined voltage range which includes the intermediate voltage. The one driver is turned off in response to the voltage at the point being outside the predetermined voltage range, thereby detecting that the one driver is operating properly. If the voltage at the point remains in the predetermined voltage range for a predetermined time period, then the one driver is turned off and an indication is made that the one driver has failed. If the first driver passed, then the other driver is tested in the same manner.

High and low side driver tests for airbag module

A method and system for measuring the capacitance of a backup power source in a backup power supply system is disclosed by the present invention. The regulated output voltage is set to a nominal regulated output voltage during normal operation and then adjusted to a predetermined regulated output voltage during a capacitance measurement. A pair of predetermined loads is connected to the backup power source in consecutive order for discharging energy from the backup power source. A counter is used to count the time that elapses before the regulated output voltage reaches the lower regulated output voltage or the backup power supply system begins regulating. The resulting counts are used by a main control unit, together with several other known values, to determine the capacitance of the backup power source.

Method for measurement of backup power supply capacitance in restraint control module

A circuit for interfacing with a sensor having a sensor input current and a modulated sensor current signal corresponding to a sensed condition. A control module is coupled to the sensor and receives the sensor current signal. The control module converts the sensor current signal to a modulated signal having a pulse width with a duration corresponding to the sensed condition. The control module counts a time corresponding to the pulse width. The time corresponds to the sensed condition.

A sensor system for detecting impacts to a vehicle, allowing for actuation decisions of passive restraint devices. The sensor system includes one or more piezoelectric sensor assemblies (,), each including a coaxial piezoelectric cable (,) contained within a tube housing (,), which is mounted to a structural member of the vehicle. Vehicular deformation sensor system

A control circuit (46) for an air bag disabling system (16,22) includes a resistive test load (66) arranged in parallel with the resistive elements of the air bag (48) and in some embodiments includes a fuse (64) in series with the resistive test load (66), the resistive test load providing for the operation of the vehicle air bag system independent of the disabling effected by the disabling system and the fuse providing indication of operation of the air bag disabling system.
