A device for treating tissue includes a clip including clip arms and a coupler. Each of the clip arms extends from a proximal end to a distal end. Proximal ends of the clip arms are slidably received within a channel of a capsule. A proximal end of the capsule includes openings extending through a wall. The coupler is mounted over the proximal end of the capsule via deployment arms including engaging features extending laterally inward from an interior surface thereof to engage the openings of the capsule. The coupler includes retention arms configured to engage a corresponding portion of an applicator. When a pre-determined compressive force is applied to the coupler, the deployment arms are proximally slidable along the corresponding portion of the applicator to deflect the deployment arms out of engagement with the capsule so that the coupler is separable from the capsule.

Non-shedding coupling method and system for reloadable hemostasis clip

A system for treating tissue includes a clip assembly including a pair of clip arms. Proximal ends of the clip arms are slidably received within a channel of a capsule to be moved between a tissue receiving configuration and a tissue clipping configuration. The system also includes a catheter assembly including a control member extending therethrough. The control member includes a distal end connected to the clip arms to move the clip assembly between the receiving and clipping configurations. The system further includes a coupler releasably coupled to a proximal end of the capsule and configured to be coupled to the distal end of the catheter assembly. The coupler fractures when a proximal force exerted on the coupler via the control member exceeds a first predetermined threshold value to disengage the capsule and deploy the clip assembly.

This disclosure relates to the field of luminal surgery. Specifically, the present disclosure relates to medical devices that expand within a body lumen for accessing a target tissue. In an aspect, an expandable device for a body lumen may include a filament comprising a proximal end, a distal end, and a length. The device may include a plurality of segments. Each segment may comprise a middle portion comprising a longitudinal axis extending axially therethrough, a projection portion extending from an end of the middle portion along the longitudinal axis, and a receptive portion extending from an opposing end of the middle portion away from the longitudinal axis, the receptive portion configured to receive the projection portion of an adjacent one of the plurality of segments. An aperture may be disposed through the projection portion, the middle portion, and the receptive portion.

A clipping system includes a clip having a pair of clip arms, proximal ends of the clip arms slidably received within a channel of a capsule to be moved between an open configuration and a closed configuration. A proximal end of the capsule including connecting tabs extending proximally therefrom. An applicator includes an elongated flexible member and a control member extending therethrough. The control member includes a distal end connected to the clip arms to move the clip assembly between the open and closed configurations. A distal end of the elongated flexible member includes a bushing including a first ramped surface, along which the connecting tabs slide along to engage a corresponding engaging feature of the bushing, and a second ramped surface proximal of the first ramped surface, the connecting tabs slidable along the second ramped surface to plastically deform toward a deployed configuration.

A clipping system for treating tissue a clip with clip arms and an applicator having a flexible member and a control member. Proximal ends of the arms are received within a channel of a capsule. The capsule includes a slot extending from a proximal end of the capsule through a wall thereof. The control member includes a distal end connectable to the arms to move them between the open and closed configurations. A distal end of the flexible member includes a bushing having a distal portion receivable within a proximal end of the capsule. The distal portion includes an engaging tab extending laterally outward therefrom receivable within an engaging portion of the slot, a spring extending along the distal portion and disposed proximally of the engaging tab so that, when the engaging tab is received within the engaging portion, the spring is compressed against a portion of the capsule.

An ophthalmic marking device is provided herein for marking a patient's eye. The device may include a handle and a tip with a tip element, a first portion of the tip element protruding from the tip to be exposed. The tip element is electrically conductive to resistively generate heat with electrical flow therethrough. A source of electrical power is associated with the device and electrically coupled to the tip element. The source of the electrical power and the tip element are configured to cause the first portion of the tip element to have a temperature in a range of 250&#xb0; F.-450&#xb0; F. Advantageously, the subject invention provides for a relatively low-cost device for marking a patient's eye and allows for creating a less traumatic marking on a patient's eye as compared to higher temperature electrocautery devices.

Ophthalmic marking device and method of using same

In one aspect, a method is provided herein of marking a patient's eye for reference during a toric lens implantation procedure. The method includes providing an electrocautery device having a handle, a shaft extending from the handle, and a tip defined at the terminus of the shaft. The handle is elongated and extends along a longitudinal axis with the shaft being bent or curved such that the tip is spaced from, and not aligned with, the longitudinal axis. The method further includes using the electrocautery device to cauterize one or more points on the patient's eye, the points being located as reference marks for placement of the toric lens. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a device is used having a bent or curved shaft which may better accommodate the curvature of a patient's eye while marking.
