A self-deploying shelter assembly deploys between a unfolded and folded state automatically. The shelter includes a plurality of legs and a hub, the hub being configured to be coupled to one end of a leg. A leg has a first element, a second element and a third element. A second end of the third element is movably coupled to the hub. A foot member is coupled to a first end of the first element. A second end of the first element is movably coupled to a first end of the second element and a second end of the second element is movably coupled to the first end of the third element. A roller member is coupled to one or more of the second end of the second element and the first end of the third element and is configured to contact a ground surface when the shelter is folded.

Self-deploying shelter

Systems and methods for applying flexible solar panels to flexible underlying membranes are disclosed. The embodiments disclosed herein involve systems and methods for applying flexible photovoltaic modules to flexible underlying membranes, including large and small span and permanent membrane structures.

Systems and methods for applying flexible solar panels to flexible underlying membranes

Tensioned sheet-metal based solar panels and structures for supporting the same are disclosed. The sheet metal based solar panels can include a flexible photovoltaic solar module laminated onto a thin, flexible metal sheet. Such solar panels can be mounted on and tensioned within a support frame that is twisted out of plane with respect to a reference planar datum surface. The resulting surface can be a hyperbolic paraboloid, which can be aesthetically pleasing while improving structural stability and maximizing angular exposure to the sun.

Personal mobility device

A personal mobility device includes a pair of rear legs and a pair of front legs pivotably connected to the rear legs via a pair of hubs. A handle, having a loop shape and including a grip portion, is slidably mounted within the pair of hubs so that the height of the grip can be adjusted. The hubs lock the front and rear legs in both an open (unfolded) and closed (folded) configuration. By sliding the handle downward through the hubs, the legs are unlocked from the open position and allowed to pivot until locked in the closed configuration. Conversely, by sliding the handle upward through the hubs, the legs are unlocked from the closed position and allowed to pivot until locked in the open configuration.

A personal mobility device includes a frame including first, second, third, and fourth frame members. The first and second frame members are connected, such as by a pivot joint. The third and fourth frame members are connected to collapse in the same plane as the first and second frame members. The first and third, and second and fourth, frame members are also connected via hinges. This allows the device to fold ('collapse') and unfold ('expand') substantially simultaneously in two substantially orthogonal planes. A tension wire assembly is provided that biases the frame into a collapsed configuration; a locking mechanism is provided that holds the frame in an expanded configuration. Alternatively, tendons can bias the frame into an expanded configuration.
