A bone fixation assembly may include a male member removably couplable with a female member. The male member may include a male load-sharing feature having at least one male load-sharing surface. The female member may include a female load-sharing feature having at least one female load-sharing surface. The female load-sharing feature may be positioned and shaped to receive the male load-sharing feature therein. In response to a bending load acting on the bone fixation assembly, at least one of the male member and the female member may bend such that, at least a portion of the at least one male load-sharing surface engages with at least a portion of the at least one female load-sharing surface to distribute the bending load between the male member and the female member.

Bone fixation devices, systems, and methods

A dynamic compression implant may be insertable into a bone, and may have a distal member with distal bone-engaging threads, a proximal member that slidably engages the distal member, and a tension member with a proximal end coupled to the proximal member, and a distal end coupled to the distal member such that, in response to motion of the distal member distally away from the proximal member, the tension member elongates and urges the distal member to move proximally toward the proximal member. The bone screw may further have an interpositional member, formed separately from the proximal member and the distal member, that cooperates with the proximal member and the distal member to form a torque transmission feature that transmits torque between the proximal member and the distal member. The dynamic compression implant may be a bone screw, intramedullary implant, or other implant that applies compression across two bone portions.

Dynamic compression implant

A bone screw may be insertable into a bone. The bone screw may have a distal member with bone-engaging threads, a proximal member configured to slidably engage the distal member, and a tension member with a proximal end coupled to the proximal member, and a distal end coupled to the distal member such that, in response to motion of the distal member away from the proximal member, the tension member elongates and urges the distal member to move toward the proximal member.

A subcutaneous tunneling device includes a shaft having a bend, a catheter connector extending from a distal end of the shaft distal of the bend, and a sleeve. The catheter connector can include a body having a gripping portion, and a barbed extension distal of the body configured for insertion into a lumen of a catheter. The sleeve is slidably mounted on the shaft, and has a retracted position exposing the catheter connector to permit a distal end of a catheter to be coupled thereto, and an extended position covering the catheter connector and the distal end of the catheter.

Split-tip catheter including lateral distal openings

A bone screw may be insertable into a bone. The bone screw may have a distal member with bone-engaging threads, a proximal member configured to slidably engage the distal member, and a tension member with a proximal end coupled to the proximal member, and a distal end coupled to the distal member such that, in response to motion of the distal member away from the proximal member, the tension member elongates and urges the distal member to move toward the proximal member. The tension member may be configured such that, at a minimum length of the bone screw, the tension member is pre-stretched so that the tension member is under tension to urge the bone screw to shorten. The bone screw may be inserted in the pre-stretched state. A pre-stretch driver may be used to tension the bone screw prior to or during insertion.

A first bone portion may be secured to a second bone portion by forming a hole in the first bone portion and the second bone portion and inserting a bone screw into the hole. The bone screw may have a proximal member, a distal member, and a tension member with a proximal end coupled to the proximal member and a distal end coupled to the distal member. Torque may be applied to the bone screw to move the distal member away from the proximal member such that the tension member elongates and urges the distal member to move toward the proximal member. The torque may be transmitted from the proximal member to the distal member via a torque transmission feature. A bending transmission feature, displaced proximally or distally from the torque transmission feature, may be positioned to share bending loads between the proximal member and the distal member.

Active compression bone screw

A retractor system may provide access to a surgical site along an access pathway surrounded by tissue. In some embodiments, the retractor system may include three arms and four retractor blades, each having a tissue engagement surface. The second arm may translate along a first retraction direction relative to the first arm. The first retractor blade may be securable to the first arm and the second retractor blade may be securable to the second arm. The third arm may have a connection feature that may be removably securable to a connection interface of the second arm. The third retractor blade may be securable to the third arm and the fourth retractor blade may be securable to a rack between the first and second arms. The third and fourth retractor blades may have cross-sectional shapes oriented generally parallel to the first retraction direction.

Systems and methods for surgical retraction

Surgical retractor

A split-tip catheter for placement within the vasculature of a patient and for use in hemodialysis or other suitable procedures, and methods of use. The split-tip catheter can include a catheter body defining a first lumen and a second lumen, and a split distal region extending from a distal end of the catheter body. The split distal region can include an arterial segment defined by an outer wall enclosing an arterial segment lumen, the arterial segment lumen in fluid communication with the catheter body first lumen, and a venous segment defined by an outer wall enclosing a venous segment lumen, the venous segment lumen in fluid communication with the catheter body second lumen, the venous segment outer wall extending from the catheter body distal end to a distal nose portion. The distal nose portion can taper from a first outer perimeter to a second smaller outer perimeter.

A bone screw may be insertable into a bone, and may have a proximal member, a distal member with bone-engaging threads, wherein the distal member is configured to slidably engage the proximal member such that a variable-length cavity is defined within the proximal member and the distal member, and a tension member residing at least partially within the variable-length cavity. The tension member may have a proximal end coupled to the proximal member and a distal end coupled to the distal member such that, in response to motion of the distal member away from the proximal member, the tension member elongates and urges the distal member to move toward the proximal member. The proximal member and the distal member may be interconnected to share bending loads at a bending transmission feature.

A catheter for vascular insertion, including a catheter body defining a first lumen and a second lumen, and including a distal region. The distal region may include a first distal opening in fluid communication with the first lumen, and a second distal opening in fluid communication with the second lumen. The distal region may also include a first lateral opening defined by the catheter body and in fluid communication with the first lumen, and a second lateral opening defined by the catheter body and in fluid communication with the second lumen. One or both of the first and second lateral openings may be defined by an angle cross-cut through an outer perimeter of the catheter body.
