A method of determining whether a radiotherapy device configured to provide therapeutic radiation to a patient should be authorised for use. The device comprises a plurality of components, each component of the plurality of components being coupled with at least one identifier configured to provide data identifying the component it is coupled with. The method comprises receiving, from the identifiers, data identifying each of the plurality of components of the radiotherapy device and determining whether at least one authorisation criterion is met based on the identifying data and authorisation data; and if the at least one authorisation criterion is met, determining that the radiotherapy device is authorised for use.

A method, apparatus and computer-readable medium for avoiding collisions between a subject and a radiotherapy device are provided. At a first time point, first location information for the subject is measured using a first sensor and a second sensor. A spatial profile of the subject is determined based on the first location information. At a second time point, second location information for the subject is measured using the first sensor. At this second time point, a line of sight between the second sensor and the subject is obscured. It is determined whether a collision is expected to occur between the subject and the radiotherapy device based on the spatial profile and the second location information.

Disclosed herein is a method of positioning a patient for radiotherapy treatment using a radiotherapy system. The method comprises determining a first target position for the patient for radiotherapy treatment; implementing a spatial relationship between the patient and at least a part of the radiotherapy device, at a first time (t), according to the first target position; providing radiotherapy treatment to the patient; determining a current position of the patient, at a second, subsequent time (t); and determining whether a change of a spatial relationship between the patient and at least a part of the radiotherapy device should be made, according to the first target position.

This disclosure relates generally to treatment management systems, which may include a clinical database for storing therapeutic protocols. The system may also include a treatment engine operatively connected to the clinical database. The treatment engine may obtain diagnostic information and select a first plurality of therapeutic protocols from the clinical database based on the obtained diagnostic information and reference protocol data. The treatment engine may calculate a treatment efficacy probability for each protocol using the reference protocol data. The treatment engine may develop a first treatment plan and evaluate intermediate data indicating an altered patient state due to the first treatment plan. The treatment engine may select, based on reference protocol data and adaptive protocol data, a second treatment plan using a second plurality of therapeutic protocols. The selected second treatment plan is adapted based on the clinical objective, the reference protocol data, and the treatment efficacy information.

Embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for evaluating treatment parameters for a patient undergoing radiotherapy. The method includes the step of generating a portal dosimetry image showing differences between a planning image obtained prior to a treatment session and a portal image obtained during the treatment session. A database of prior portal dosimetry results is accessed, and a processor is used to perform a similarity measurement between the portal dosimetry image and the prior portal dosimetry results. Based on the similarity measurement, the system determines whether radiation was delivered as planned during the treatment session.

An apparatus has a patient support, a rotatable gantry supporting a source of imaging radiation, and a radiation detector that operates in a cyclical pattern of an exposure phase followed by a readout phase. For a first detector cycle in which the gantry has a first angle of rotation, the source of radiation is controlled to emit a first radiation beam pulse during the exposure phase, and respective first imaging data is read out during the readout phase. For a second, subsequent detector cycle, it is determined if the gantry has rotated through at least a threshold angular displacement relative to said first angle of rotation, and if so, the source of radiation is controlled to emit a second radiation beam pulse during the exposure phase, and respective second imaging data is read out during the readout phase.
