Utility box incorporating an integral clamping vise

A carafe having a thermal filler, a housing, and a sealant between the filler and housing. The housing has a top with an annular groove facing a bottom of the housing. The groove has an angled surface between an interior side of the groove and the top of the groove. A neck of the thermal filler is located in the groove with the sealant in the groove forming a seal between the housing and filler.

A utility box for storing and/or carrying articles to a remote site has a base and a cover with a clamping vise incorporated as an integral portion of the cover. The base is a box-like structure defining a chamber for holding the articles and having a set of four pedestals which provide a supporting structure for the integral vise. The base further includes an integral pair of clamping feet which extend from two of the pedestals to form a surface which can be used to clamp the utility box to a relatively stationary surface. The cover is hingedly secured to the base and mates with a positioning rib extending from the base in order to locate and position the cover with respect to the base. The integral vise defines a worksurface and includes a stationary jaw and a movable jaw. The movable jaw is movable via a pair of threaded rods which are rotatably mounted to the cover. Additional features of the utility box include and externally accessed parts tray having a clear plastic cover and an internally nested auxiliary parts tray to facilitate the internal organization of the utility box. Additional embodiments of the invention include a plurality of support legs to position the utility box at a predetermined height and a drawer support to provide additional storage and to also position the tool box at a predetermined height.

In a housing (22) for a right-angle grinder (20), a pair of clamshell sections (24) and (26) are joined along a midplane (28). The interior of the housing (22) is formed with a motor case (34) and a gear case (36). Clamshell section (26) is formed with a rib (76) in a peripheral edge (72) thereof and is nested in a groove (58) formed in a peripheral edge (56) of clamshell section (24) to form an interlock for the housing (22). Slots (78) and (80) are formed transversely through the rib (76) along two spaced paths of the interlock to preclude a flowable lubricating substance from creeping from gear case (36), along the two spaced paths of the interlock to the motor case (34).

An improved power lawn rake has a rotor provided with a plurality of ground-engaging spring tines. The dead leaves and other debris are carried by the rotor along the curved forward wall of a deflector box, and are discharged between the deflector box and a front channel and into a molded bin. The bin is removably mounted on respective side housings of the main frame of the power lawn rake. Ground-engaging forward wheels are vertically adjustable on brackets mounted on the front channel. The wheels are nested within externally-accessible recesses formed in the bin. A driving motor is cantilever mounted on one of the side housings of the frame for driving the rotor. The drive is through gearing (in a gear case secured to the motor housing) and through a belt and pulley arrangement accessible through a cover plate removably secured to the side housing. The motor carries a fan for drawing motor cooling air in through inlet openings in the other side housing and discharging the same around a shroud and through air exhaust openings formed in the one side housing. A first U-shaped handle assembly may be pivoted forwardly of the frame, and a second U-shaped handle assembly may be pivoted over the first handle assembly, thereby facilitating convenient storage of the machine. The second handle assembly has a bight portion forming a hand grip and including a pair of complementary mating halves. A switch and an externally-accessible switch actuator are trapped between the mating halves of the hand grip.

A turbine-driven sander includes a minimum of one-piece sealed housing members so interconnected as to form a nozzle, a turbine chamber, and a valve chamber. A plurality of elongated support members are integrally formed on a housing member. Fasteners are inserted in the elongated support members to clamp the housing members together. A flap valve mounted in the valve chamber opens the turbine chamber to a source of vacuum, thereby driving a turbine rotatably mounted in the turbine chamber. This rotation in turn vibrates a platen through a direct-drive system. The platen is supported upon one of the housing members by two platen support members. A noise attenuation system at the front end of the housing includes a two-passage nozzle which is curved to interrupt the line of sight from a turbine air inlet to the turbine. A side branch resonator communicates with the nozzle via noise-attenuating holes in a cover plate located above the nozzle. The nozzle configuration and the resonator coact to attenuate turbine air inlet noise and turbine vane noise.
