The present technology is directed to an adjustable power intraocular lens comprising a container, an optical fluid in the container, and a transport substance in solution with the optical fluid. The container has an optical component and a peripheral component extending around at least a portion of the optical component. The optical component has an anterior optical element, a posterior optical element, and a fluid chamber having a chamber volume between the anterior optical element and the posterior optical element. The transport substance is configured to pass through the container. The adjustable power intraocular lens further comprises volume control elements in the container. The volume control elements are configured to be activated by a non-invasive energy and upon activation release the transport substance into the optical fluid to decrease the chamber volume and/or absorb the transport substance from the optical fluid to increase the chamber volume.

Adjustable optical power intraocular lenses

Adjustable flow glaucoma shunts are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, for example, a variable flow shunt for treatment of glaucoma in a human patient includes an elongated outflow tube having (a) a proximal inflow portion configured for placement within an anterior chamber in a region outside of an optical field of view of an eye of the patient, and (b) a distal outflow portion at a different location of the eye. The variable flow shunt further includes a flow control mechanism positioned along the outflow tube between the inflow portion and the outflow portion. The flow control mechanism comprises one or more control elements transformable between an open position that allows fluid to flow through the outflow tube and resistance positions that partially obstruct or attenuate fluid flow through the outflow tube. During operation, the control element(s) are movable between positions in response to non-invasive energy.

Adjustable flow glaucoma shunts and methods for making and using same

Systems and devices for facilitating the flow of fluid between a first body region and a second body region are disclosed herein. The devices generally include a drainage and/or shunting element having a lumen extending therethrough for draining or otherwise shunting fluid between the first and second body regions. Further, devices configured in accordance with the present technology may be selectively adjustable to control the amount of fluid flowing between the first and second body regions. In some embodiments, for example, the devices comprise an actuation assembly that drives movement of a flow control element to modulate flow resistance through the lumen, thereby increasing or decreasing the relative drainage rate of fluid between the first body region and the second body region.

Adjustable flow glaucoma shunts are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, for example, an adjustable flow shunt can include an outflow drainage tube having a proximal inflow region and a distal outflow region. The proximal inflow region can include aperture(s) defining a fluid inlet area positioned to allow fluid to flow therethrough. The shunt further comprises an inflow control assembly at the proximal inflow region. The inflow control assembly can include a control element configured to slidably engage the proximal inflow region and a spring element. The spring element is configured to be activated by non-invasive energy and, upon activation, slidably move the control element along the proximal inflow region such that (a) the one or more apertures are accessible and have a first fluid flow cross-section or (b) the one or more apertures are at least partially covered by the control element and have a second, different fluid-flow cross-section.

An intravascular fluid movement device that includes an expandable member having a collapsed, delivery configuration and an expanded, deployed configuration, the expandable member having a proximal end and a distal end, a rotatable member disposed radially and axially within the expandable member, and a conduit coupled to the expandable member, the conduit at least partially defining a blood flow lumen between a distal end of the conduit and a proximal end of the conduit, the conduit disposed solely radially inside of the expandable member in a distal section of the expandable member.

Intravascular catheters that include a handle assembly with first and second handle actuators, where the actuators are adapted to separately control inner and outer catheter shafts in at least one of axial displacement, deflection, or rotation. The catheters may also include a medical tool secured to the outer shaft.
