Testing of a battery module can be conducted using monitoring electronics attached to the battery module. Stimulus can be applied to the battery module and removed. After removal of the stimulus, the monitoring electronics can collect signals from the monitoring electronics reflecting parameters of the battery module as it relaxes back to a non-stimulated state. The stimulus can be provided by test equipment or by components of a system in which the battery module, having attached monitoring electronics, is implemented. The monitoring electronics attached to the battery module can provide autonomous recording of signals associated with the battery module that can provide data regarding the status of the battery module or one or more batteries contained in the battery module.

Systems and methods for measuring oxygen in a patient's bloodstream

A device having an impedance measurement circuit that allows for reduction of flicker noise can be implemented in a variety of applications. A carrier suppression technique can be implemented that substantially removes the carrier signal with removal of noise artifacts associated with the carrier signal from sidebands of the carrier signal. Carrier suppression in an AC impedance measurement circuit can be implemented by sensing a carrier signal of the measurement circuit at a transmit location of the measurement circuit and subtracting a weighted version of the carrier signal at a receive location of the measurement circuit. One or more compensation impedances can be used such that the sidebands of the carrier signal are received with the carrier signal suppressed with respect to the receive location.

Reduction of noise in impedance measurement circuits

Various examples are directed to methods and system of managing a sensor. A measurement system may receive from the host device, a first register map describing a first configuration of the measurement system for the first sensor. The first configuration may indicate a first measurement frequency for the first sensor. The measurement system may configure a switch matrix to provide a first excitation signal to the first sensor. The measurement system may configure the switch matrix to connect an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) of the measurement system to the first sensor. The measurement system may sample a first raw sensor signal from the first sensor with the ADC at a first measurement frequency described by the first configuration. The measurement system may generate first digital measurement data based at least in part on the first raw sensor signal and send the first digital measurement data to the host device.

Measurement system

The present disclosure provides an impedance measurement circuit for measuring and detecting variations in an impedance under test, and methods of operating the impedance measurement circuit. The impedance measurement circuit comprises a plurality of converts, including at least two digital-to-analog converters (DACs). The DACs together alternate between a first mode of operation and a second mode of operation. In the first mode, a first one of the DACs is operational to convert a first digital input signal to a first analog output using a first hardware component, and a second one of the DACs is operational to convert a second digital input signal to a second analog output using a second hardware component. In the second mode, the first one of the DACs is operational to convert the first digital input signal to the first analog output using the second hardware component, and the second one of the DACs is operational to convert the second digital input signal to the second analog output using the first hardware component. By alternating between the first and second modes, the first and the second hardware components are alternately used in the first DAC and the second DAC to perform the respective DAC's conversion operations. Each hardware component may be associated with an intrinsic noise power that causes magnitude errors in the respective DAC's output. Furthermore, the DACs may be arranged such that magnitude errors in the first DAC and magnitude errors in the second DAC cause opposing errors in the impedance measurement made by the impedance measurement circuit. Therefore, by alternating between the first and the second modes, errors in the impedance measurements performed by the impedance measurement circuit are stabilised, or ratiometrically cancelled, over time.

Noise cancellation in impedance measurement circuits

Apparatus and methods for rotary traveling wave oscillators (RTWOs) are disclosed. In certain embodiments, an RTWO system include an RTWO ring that carries a traveling wave, a plurality of selectable capacitors distributed around the RTWO ring and each operable in a selected state and an unselected state, and a decoder system that controls selection of the plurality of selectable capacitors based on a frequency tuning code. The frequency tuning code includes a fine tuning code and a coarse tuning code, and the decoder system is operable to maintain a constant number of capacitors that toggle state for each value of the fine tuning code.

Apparatus and methods for rotary traveling wave oscillators

Various examples are directed to systems and methods for managing a sensor. A measurement system may receive, from a host device, a first register map describing a first configuration of a measurement system. The first configuration may be associated with a first sensor. The measurement system may compare the first register map to an error rule set indicating inconsistent register map arrangements. After comparing the first register map to the error rule set, the measurement system may configure a switch matrix of the measurement system to sample the first sensor according to the first configuration of the measurement system. The measurement system may receive a plurality of samples from a first sensor and generate first digital measurement data based at least in part on the plurality of samples.

Various examples are directed to configuring a configurable hardware module to perform a measurement of a physical quantity. A configuration manager may receive an indication of the physical quantity and performance factor data describing the measurement of the physical quantity. The configuration manager may generate a hardware configuration of the hardware based at least in part on the indication of the physical quantity and the performance factor data. The hardware configuration may comprise instruction data to configure the hardware module to execute a dynamic measurement of the physical quantity. The configuration manager may also generate configuration data describing the hardware configuration, wherein the configuration data comprises simulation data comprising input parameters for a simulation of the hardware configuration and hardware configuration data for configuring a hardware module to implement at least a portion of the hardware configuration.

Measurement-driven electronic device design environment and techniques

A control circuit for use with a four terminal sensor, the sensor having first and second drive terminals and first and second measurement terminals, the control circuit arranged to drive at least one of the first and second drive terminals with an excitation signal, to sense a voltage difference between the first and second measurement terminals, and control the excitation signal such that the voltage difference between the first and second measurement terminals is within a target range of voltages, and wherein the control circuit includes N poles in its transfer characteristic and N&#x2212;1 zeros in its transfer characteristic such that when a loop gain falls to unity the phase shift around a closed loop is not substantially 2&#x3c0; radians or a multiple thereof, where N is greater than 1.

A blood oxygenation sensor is provided comprising: a first current-powered light source to produce light having a first wavelength; a second current-powered light source to produce light having a second wavelength; a light sensor to produce a current signal having a magnitude that is indicative of intensity of light incident upon it; a current level driver circuit that includes a current source configured to couple the current source to alternatively provide current to one of the first current-powered light source and the second light current-powered light source; a processor configured to predict times of occurrence of one or more first time intervals in which arterial volume at a tissue site is at one of a maximum and a minimum; wherein the processor is configured to control the current source, to provide a first pattern of higher power-dissipation current pulses to the first and second current-powered light sources during the first time intervals, and to provide a second pattern of lower power-dissipation current pulses to at least one of the first and second current-powered light sources during second time intervals.

Techniques that allow application of noise-shaped dither without applying dither at sampling, resulting in the analog-to-digital converter (ADC) circuit advantageously being balanced during acquisition. Balancing the ADC circuit at acquisition can reduce the risk of sampling digital interferences that can couple in through the references or substrates.

Techniques to increase a data throughput rate of a filter circuit by preloading selectable memory circuits of the filter circuit with reference data, sampling input data at an input of the filter circuit, combining the sampled input data with the preloaded reference data, and generating a filter output based on the combined sampled input data and preloaded reference data.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a motor-driven mechanical system with a detection system to measure properties of a back channel and derive oscillatory characteristics of the mechanical system. Uses of the detection system may include calculating the resonant frequency of the mechanical system and a threshold drive Drequired to move the mechanical system from the starting mechanical stop position. System manufacturers often do not know the resonant frequency and Dof their mechanical systems precisely. Therefore, the calculation of the specific mechanical system's resonant frequency and Drather than depending on the manufacturer's expected values improves precision in the mechanical system use. The backchannel calculations may be used either to replace or to improve corresponding pre-programmed values.

Control techniques for motor driven systems

A control circuit for use with a four terminal sensor, such as a glucose sensor. The Glucose sensor is a volume product and typically its manufacture will want to make it as inexpensively as possible. This may give rise to variable impedances surrounding the active cell of the sensor. Typically the sensor has first and second drive terminals and first and second measurement terminals, so as to help overcome the impedance problem. The control circuit is arranged to drive at least one of the first and second drive terminals with an excitation signal, and control the excitation signal such that a voltage difference between the first and second measurement terminals is within a target range of voltages. To allow the control circuit to work with a variety of measurement cell types the control circuit further comprises voltage level shifters for adjusting a voltage at one or both of the drive terminals, or for adjusting a voltage received from one or both of the measurement terminals.

A charge rebalancing integration circuit can help keep an output node of a front-end integration circuit within a specified range, e.g., without requiring resetting of the integration capacitor. The process of monitoring and rebalancing the integration circuit can operate on a much shorter time base than the integration time period, which can allow for multiple charge balancing charge transfer events during the integration time period, and sampling of the integration capacitor once per integration time period, such as at the end of that integration time period. Information about the charge rebalancing can be used to adjust subsequent discrete-time signal processing, such as digitized values of the samples. Improved dynamic range and noise performance is possible. Computed tomography (CT) imaging and other use cases are described, including those with variable integration periods.
