An electronic gaming machine includes a display device, a processor, and a memory storing instructions which when executed by the processor, cause the processor to control the display device to display an initial array of symbol positions, where the initial array of symbol positions include a plurality of rows of symbol positions. The instructions also cause the processor to populate each symbol position with a first plurality of symbols, and evaluate the first plurality of symbols to determine whether to provide a first game award. The instructions also cause the processor to add a new row of symbol positions to the initial array of symbol positions, and populate each symbol position of the new row of symbol positions with a second plurality of symbols.

A method of dynamically forming a dynamic reel strip to be used to generate a game outcome in an electronic gaming system. The method includes defining a dynamic reel strip. A plurality of reel strip positions of each reel includes a group of dynamically determined symbol positions, and fixed symbol positions. The method includes initiating a play of the game then updating each dynamic reel strip by selecting, at random, a fixed symbol position from a subset of the fixed symbol positions of the respective reel strip. The method further includes determining a symbol of the set of game symbols to occupy each dynamically determined symbol position of the group of dynamically determined symbol positions based on the selected fixed symbol position of the respective reel strip. A gaming system comprises a processor and memory storing a) multiple feature game trigger probability states including a lowest feature game trigger probability state and a highest feature game trigger probability state; b) a current feature game trigger probability state of the multiple feature game trigger states; and c) instructions. When the instructions are executed, they cause the processor to receive a player selection in respect of play of a game with a base game from which a feature game can be triggered, generate a base game outcome for display, evaluate the base game to determine whether to make an award in respect of the base game, and control a probability of the feature game being initiated (e.g., select the current feature game trigger probability state if the player selection has a first characteristic, or the highest feature game probability state if the player selection has a second characteristic).

A gaming system that uses multiple ghost reels to trigger a jackpot feature. During the jackpot feature, a gaming system performs a first spin of a jackpot prize reel that includes multiple jackpot prize symbols. After the first spin, each of the displayed jackpot prize symbol replaces a jackpot symbol displayed on the same line of an adjacent first ghost reel. Afterwards, the gaming system performs a second spin of the jackpot prize reel that generates a second set of displayed jackpot prize symbols. An electronic gaming system comprises a first video display, a second video display, and a game controller to select a plurality of symbols from a symbol set for display at respective ones of a plurality of symbol display positions on the first video display.
