Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for shared folder backed integrated workspaces. In some implementations, a content management system can provide a graphical user interface (GUI) that integrates communications and content management into a single user interface. The user interface can include mechanisms that allow a user to provide input to generate a new workspace. The user interface can provide a mechanism to allow a user to view conversations related to the workspace and/or content items associated with the workspace. The user interface can present representations of content items associated with the workspace and allow the user to provide input to generate, view, edit, and share content items associated with the workspace.

A collaborative content management system allows users to access collaborative content items. When a client device accesses a shared collaborative content item, the client device displays a portion of the collaborative content item that falls within a viewport. The client application generates a notification count of notification events associated with content that is contained in the collaborative content item and positioned below the viewport, and the client device displays the notification count in a graphical element adjacent to a bottom viewport edge. A similar process generates a second notification count of the notification events associated with content positioned above the viewport and displays a graphical element with the second notification count adjacent to the top viewport edge. The user can iteratively select one of the graphical elements to move the content of the collaborative content item to a portion corresponding to the next notification event above or below the viewport.

Shared workspaces with selective content item synchronization. In one embodiment, for example, a personal computing device is configured to send a request to a server of a cloud-based content management system to join a shared workspace. The personal computing device then receives content item metadata about content items associated with the shared workspace. The content item metadata allows a user of the personal computing device to browse a content item-folder hierarchy for the content items even if only some but not all of the content items have been downloaded and stored at the personal computing device.

In one embodiment, a method includes presenting, by a client system, grammar tokens, each grammar token being based on a natural-language string and comprising references to objects associated with an online social network, receiving, at the client system, a selection of one of the presented grammar tokens, the selected grammar token being based on a first natural-language string, presenting, by the client system, completion tokens, wherein each completion token is based on a natural-language string corresponding to the first natural-language string and comprises references to objects associated with the online social network, receiving, at the client system, a selection of one of the completion tokens, the selected completion token being based on a second natural-language string, and generating, by the client system, a structured query corresponding to the selected grammar and completion tokens, the structured query comprising references to the objects referenced in the selected grammar and completion tokens.

Shared workspaces with selective content item synchronization. In one embodiment, for example, a method performed at a personal computing device comprises: displaying an actionable shared workspace launcher icon for a shared workspace accessible by a user account held with a content management system; downloading metadata pertaining to the shared workspace from the content management system; downloading one or more content item blocks for a particular content item belonging to the shared workspace from a content item server of the content management system; storing the one or more content item blocks at the personal computing device; and responsive to an activation of an actionable file system icon corresponding to the particular content item, updating display of the corresponding actionable file system icon for the particular content item to indicate that the particular content item is currently configured for offline access.

In one embodiment, a method includes accessing a set of nodes of a social graph of an online social network. The social graph includes a number of nodes and a number of edges connecting the nodes. Each of the edges between two of the nodes representing a single degree of separation between them. The nodes include a first node that corresponds to the first user and a number of nodes that each correspond to a concept or a second user associated with the online social network. The method also includes accessing one or more grammar tokens. Each grammar token includes references to zero or more nodes and one or more edges. Each grammar token corresponds to a particular type of completion token. Each grammar token may be based on a natural-language string. The method also includes receiving from the first user a selection of one or more of the grammar tokens and one or more of the completion tokens.
