A trigger operated syringe () for intramammary injection of antibiotics has a fluid containing syringe cartridge () activated by a plunger () which is inserted into the syringe cartridge (A) and expels fluid when the trigger () is pulled. A syringe cartridge holding mechanism () holds the syringe cartridge in place until the trigger () is released and the plunger () retracted. Single syringe cartridge () and multiple syringe cartridge () versions are disclosed. The plunger moves in a direction which is effectively perpendicular to the direction of movement of the trigger, allowing for ease of injection to a cow's teats, and ejection of the spent cartridges.

Veterinary syringe for multiple injections

An applicator, for example an injector (), includes a flow control means including a first member () and a second member () for controlling flow from an inlet () to an outlet (). A hinged linkage () is provided having a first end () rotatably engaged with the first member and a second end () rotatably engaged with the second member. The linkage () is moveable between a collapsed position and an over-center locked position which prevents relative movement of the first member () towards the second member (). Linkage unlocking means () are provided which move the hinge () away from the over-center locked position so that the first and second members can be moved together. A similar linkage () prevents unwanted movement of a needle shroud (). A needle shroud () which can be used to remove the needle () from the injector () is also described.

Applicator

An animal remedy dispensing means is described which has an elongate handle having a longitudinal axis, an inlet for receiving a remedy and an outlet aperture. The outlet has a central axis which forms an angle of between 0&#xb0; and 45&#xb0; with the longitudinal axis of the handle. The dispensing means includes a dosage control part which is moveable between a first position wherein the dose dispensed can be adjusted and a second position wherein the dose dispensed cannot be adjusted. A novel one way valve is also described.

An electric fence energizer which comprises a capacitor connected across a power supply to an output transformer. An SCR is provided between the capacitor and the primary stage of the transformer and the SCR is arranged to discharge the capacitor. A controllable switch is provided with a control circuit which controls the charge in the capacitor via the controllable switch and also triggers the SCR.
