One example lamp assembly includes an aftermarket light source and a controller. The controller includes a storage medium configured to store a defined sequence and an operating variable. The controller is configured to capture an input signal sequence via at least one factory input device in the vehicle, determine whether the input signal sequence corresponds to the defined sequence, capture an input control signal via at least one factory input device in the vehicle, and in response to determining the input signal sequence corresponds to the defined sequence, modify the operating variable based on the input control signal. The operating variable is associated with an operating parameter of the aftermarket light source.

A system, method and storage medium for configuring and operating a plurality of serial devices in an emergency response vehicle. The system may include a plurality of peripheral devices, each configured to receive and store an address, a controller configured to transmit addressable commands to each of the devices, at least two of the devices having a first device type wherein the addresses of each of the devices are selectable by a user. The method may include selecting a plurality of peripheral devices, each configured to receive and store an address, with at least two of the devices have a same device type, connecting each of the devices to a computer executing configuration software, detecting each of the devices, receiving an address for at least one of the devices, and storing the address in a storage medium.

One example lamp assembly includes at least one controllable light source and a controller coupled to the at least one controllable light source. The controller is configured to control an operating parameter of the at least one controllable light source. The controller includes a storage medium configured to store a programming variable and an operating variable. The controller, in response to receiving primary power from a power source during a power cycle, is configured to determine whether the controller is in a programming mode based on a value of the programming variable, and in response to determining the controller is in the programming mode, modify a value of the operating variable.

Lamp assemblies and methods for controlling operating parameters of light sources

A self-assembling network is configured to automatically and dynamically connect devices used in operations carried out on or near roads bearing vehicle and pedestrian traffic. An automatic, ad hoc network connecting existing and new devices can be used to enhance safety by gathering and exchanging safety critical information. In some cases, existing equipment can be augmented with a network controller and radio frequency communications to permit the devices to join a wireless local network and exchange information over the network. New devices, including wearable devices, can be configured to act as nodes on the wireless local network. Establishing the relative position of vehicles, sensors, wearables, and other nodes on the disclosed ad hoc wireless network allows the coordination of functions based on position.
