A printer head () for a 3D-printing apparatus, comprising a nozzle () arranged to deposit one or more adjacently arranged filaments of printing material to form at least one layer of an object to be produced. The nozzle comprises at least one exterior surface () configured to be brought into abutting contact with a peripheral edge () of the at least one layer, and configured to be guided along the peripheral edge of the at least one layer and on a predetermined distance into the at least one layer.

Extrusion-based additive manufacturing method

A method for 3D printing an object with at least one wall () having a first surface and a second, opposite surface, wherein the first surface is intended to serve as an optical functional surface, wherein the wall is formed by printing one track () on top of another track (). An orientation of the object during printing is selected such that the wall has a tangent (or tangent surface) non-parallel to the z-axis, such that the first surface faces away from the x-y plane and the second surface faces the x-y plane. According to the invention, the 3D object is thus oriented during printing such that the first surface, intended to be used as an optical functional surface, faces away from the x-y plane, i.e. typically away from the support or platform on which the 3D object is printed upon. By ensuring this orientation during printing, the first surface becomes smoother than the second, opposite surface of the wall.

An illumination device includes at least one light source and at least one optical component formed by a stack of at least two biconvex cylinder lenses, each lens having an optical axis perpendicular to a stacking direction of the optical component. The optical component is manufactured using a 3D printing process using fused deposition modeling.

Lighting device having a 3D printed biconvex cylindrical lens array

A lighting device () comprising a substrate (), a plurality of light sources (), and a housing () of a light transmissive material. The substrate has a first side () and a second side () and the plurality of light sources are arranged on the first side of the substrate. The light sources have a common general output direction. The housing is arranged to transmit light surrounding the substrate, having a first portion () of said housing and a second portion () of the housing arranged substantially opposite the first portion with respect to the substrate. The plurality of first optical elements () may be arranged substantially opposite the output direction of the plurality of light sources along the first portion of the housing facing the first side of the substrate. The substrate is adapted to allow transmission of light. The plurality of first optical elements are arranged to transmit part of the light emitted by the light sources and reflect part of the light emitted by the light sources through the substrate towards the second portion of the housing.

Lighting device

There is provided a lighting device () which is suitable for a retrofit LED lamp, and which comprises an envelope () surrounding an inner volume (), of which envelope an outer surface () is arranged for distributing light from a multiple of light sources () of the lighting device. An inner surface () of the envelope is utilized for providing a low thermal resistance of the lighting device on a system level by being at least partly covered by a sheet metal element (). Driver electronics () of the light sources are arranged within the inner volume.

A lighting device () is disclosed, comprising a first closed or delimited space () which is fluidly sealed and includes a thermally conductive fluid therein, and at least one delimited second space () which is partly enclosed by the first space () and is fluidly connected to the exterior of the lighting device (). The second space () comprises a thermally conductive interface () to the first space (). The thermally conductive interface () is coupled to at least one light-emitting element () arranged within the second space () and configured to emit light such that at least a portion of the light is emitted into the first space ().

An actuator comprises an electroactive polymer layer () and stretchable electrode structures () that are disposed on each side of the electroactive polymer layer (). A softer passive layer () is secured to one of the stretchable electrode structures (). When compressed transversally by the stretchable electrode structures (), the electroactive polymer layer () will expand tangentially and the actuator will relax into a shape wherein the interior of the electroded region is substantially parallel to the plane of the device, while a substantial portion of the area increase is absorbed by out-of-plane bends arising at the electrode boundary (duck mode). The invention can be embodied as optically reflective or refractive devices with variable geometry.

Electoactive polymer actuator

The invention relates to a color-tunable illumination system (), to a lamp and to a luminaire. The color-tunable illumination system comprises a light source () emitting light of a first predefined color (B), and comprises a luminescent material () for converting light of the first predefined color into light of a second predefined color (A). The color-tunable illumination system further comprises shielding means () arranged for preventing at least part of the light emitted by the light source to impinge on the luminescent material. The light source, the luminescent material and/or the shielding means are changeable from a first situation to a second situation. In the first situation the color-tunable illumination system is arranged for shielding at least part of the luminescent material against impinging light of the first predefined color. In the second situation the color-tunable illumination system is arranged for shielding less of the luminescent material to the light of the first predefined color emitted by the light source compared to the first situation. The effect of the measures according to the invention is that the shielding means, luminescent material and/or the light source determine an amount of light of the second predefined color emitted by the color-tunable illumination system which determines a color of the color-tunable illumination system.

Color-tunable illumination system, lamp and luminaire

A light output device comprises a substrate arrangement comprising a plurality of light source circuits integrated into the structure of the substrate arrangement. Each light source circuit comprises a light source device arrangement () having two terminals and a transistor circuit (). Each light source circuit is supplied with power from an associated pair the power connections (), and at least two light source circuits () share the same pair of power connections. A set of control connections () are provided for receiving external control signals for controlling the transistor circuits (). A set of non-overlapping electrodes () provide the internal connections between the power connections, the light source device terminals and the transistor circuits, and each light source device is individually independently controllable.

Light output device

A method for investigating and ascertaining pulse or heartbeat includes directing illuminating radiation to illuminate a body part such as a finger. The illuminating radiation is of a wavelength or wavelength band substantially in the blue light region of the light spectrum. Then, an optical speckle pattern of the illuminated body part resulting from the illumination of the body part is obtained and imaged. The optical speckle pattern is representative of the heartbeat and by correlation of frames extracted from the speckle pattern, the pulse or beat extent of the body part may be ascertained.

Catheter head

The invention relates to an optical system comprising a fluid chamberand a birefringent part. The fluid chamber comprises first and second fluidshaving different indices of refraction, the interface between the fluids forming a meniscus. The birefringent part is capable of varying characteristics of a first radiation beamand a second radiation beam, the first and second radiation beams having different polarisations. Variation in the configuration of the meniscus causes variation in the characteristics of the first radiation beam and the second radiation beam. Variation in the configuration of the meniscus may be controlled by electrowetting.

The invention relates to a system for reading data stored on an information carrier. The system comprises a waveguide () which allows displacing laterally the different components in exploiting the reflection of the light beams between a first surface () and a second surface () of said wave guide (). An optical diffraction element () comprises a diffraction layer () which is divided into diffraction strips () alternating with intermediate strips (). The diffraction strips comprise nano-elements () which are aligned in one direction and absorb radiation (b) which is linearly polarized in this direction. The diffraction element may be a linear or two-dimensional grating () or a Fresnel lens (). The polarization-sensitive grating can be used in optical systems in which only radiation with a specific polarization direction should be diffracted, or in an optical record carrier to allow reading of an information structure with high spatial frequencies.
