A pipe repair device includes a body defining a first body end, a second body end, and a middle body section therebetween; a foldable arm pivotably attached to the body to radially reposition the foldable arm relative to the body, the foldable arm comprising a first segment and a second segment, the first segment extending between the body and the second segment, wherein the second segment is substantially parallel to the body; and a locomotion subsystem configured to drive the pipe repair device through a pipe, the locomotion subsystem mounted to the second segment of the foldable arm and configured to engage an inner surface of the pipe.

A pipe repair device includes a body defining a first end and a second end opposite the first end; a stent configurable in a compressed configuration and an expanded configuration, the stent mounted to the body in the compressed configuration; and a locomotion subsystem configured to drive the pipe repair device through a pipe, the locomotion subsystem comprising a steering rod extending from the first end of the body and configured to engage an inner surface of the pipe.

A pipe repair device includes a body defining a first body end, a second body end, and a middle body section therebetween; a pivotable arm attached to the body, wherein the pivotable arm is pivotable relative to the body to radially reposition the pivotable arm relative to the body; a locomotion subsystem configured to drive the pipe repair device through a pipe, the locomotion subsystem mounted to the pivotable arm and configured to engage an inner surface of the pipe; and a stent mounted to the body, the stent comprising a sealing layer and a spring.

The pipe repair stent can comprise a sealing layer comprising a flexible and compressible repair material; and a spring, wherein the sealing layer is wrapped around a circumference of the spring; wherein the stent is configurable in an expanded configuration and a compressed configuration, the spring biasing the stent to the expanded configuration.

Example aspects of a stent for repairing a pipe and a method for repairing a pipe are disclosed. The stent for repairing a pipe can comprise a spring comprising a metal wire and defining a tubular structure, the spring defining an outer surface and an inner surface, the inner surface defining a void, an axis extending through the void; and a sealing layer defining a sleeve, the sealing layer wrapped around a circumference of the spring and engaging the outer surface of the spring; the stent configurable in a compressed configuration, wherein the spring is compressed, and an expanded configuration, wherein the spring is expanded

Stents and methods for repairing pipes

The stent can comprise a spring, the spring defining an outer surface and an inner surface, the inner surface defining a void; and a seal on the outer surface of the spring; the stent configurable in a compressed orientation, wherein the spring is compressed, and an expanded orientation, wherein the spring is expanded.

Example aspects of a pipe repair device and a method for repairing a pipeline are disclosed. The pipe repair device can comprise a body; a sensor attached to the body for detecting the leak in the pipe; a transport mechanism attached to the body for transporting the pipe repair device along the pipe; and a repair mechanism comprising a repair material for repairing the leak.
