A two-phase niobium-based silicide composite exhibits creep resistance at temperatures equal to or greater than 1150&deg; C. The niobium-based silicide composite comprises at least silicon (Si) hafnium (Hf), titanium (Ti), and niobium (Nb). The concentration ratio of Nb:(Hf&plus;Ti) is equal to or greater than about 1.4.

The present invention relates to coating compositions, systems and methods for coating substrates and, more particularly, metallic substrates with spherosiloxane based coating compositions. The spherosiloxane based compositions are applied utilizing conventional techniques such as chemical vapor deposition such that upon application, the spherosiloxane molecules bond with available oxide molecules provided along the substrate.

The crystallites being formed from tungsten or a tungsten alloy of up to 1 weight percent thorium, up to 10 weight percent of at least one of rhenium, tantalum, or niobium, and the balance substantially tungsten.
