An apparatus for use with a syringe to provide a safety syringe, the apparatus including: a sheath deployable for at least partially covering a needle of the syringe; a sheath actuator for deploying the sheath; and a ratioed mechanism linking the sheath and the sheath actuator and configured such that a magnitude of movement of the sheath is greater than a magnitude of movement of the sheath actuator during deployment of the sheath.

Safety syringe apparatus

A blood sampling device includes a housing and a lancet supporting a lancet needle or tip, the lancet and needle being urged or urgeable in a pricking direction. A trigger mechanism is moveable to a fire position for releasing the lancet to travel in the pricking direction. A removable safety cap initially covers the lancet needle. The lancet has an initial position in which movement of the trigger mechanism to its fire position is blocked and an intermediate position in which the trigger mechanism may be moved to its fire position. The intermediate position is obtainable only on removal of the safety cap.

Blood sampling devices

A substance delivery device (autoinjector) for use with a container (such as a syringe) containing the substance includes: a body arranged to house or hold the container; a plunger which is movable with respect to at least a portion of the body, the plunger being arranged to act upon the container so as to move the container with respect to the portion of the body; wherein the plunger is also arranged to expel at least a portion of the substance from the container; and wherein the device includes elements for adjusting the amount of substance to be expelled from the container. The device can also have elements for priming the container, and can accommodate containers of different size or shape.

Substance delivery devices

Skin stimulus arrangements are described for creating a stimulus in the skin in the vicinity of a treatment or wound site to alleviate the perception of pain. First and second textured surfaces are provided for making contact with the skin, with the surfaces being moved to create a stimulus which alleviates the perception of pain. The movement may be linear, rotary or a combination of both, and just a single textured surface may be provided.

An injection apparatus includes a counter wheel that is incremented by the dose delivery mechanism each time the device is fired. The apparatus includes a final dose disabling mechanism that prevents further usage once the final dose has been delivered. An anti-tamper feature is provided to prevent inadvertent or premature initialisation of the apparatus.

Injection apparatus

A lancing device includes a main barrel portionto the front end of which is hinged a forward portion for movement between the open position shown in FIG.and a closed position. The main barrel portioncontains a drive mechanism, cocking slider and trigger, while the forward portion contains a lancet holder into which a lancet may be loaded front end first. Also disclosed is a lancing device having a main housing having a forward nose portion to the rear of which is a flip up lancet hatch into which a lancet may be loaded front end first.

Lancing devices

A lancing device includes a housing () for receiving in use a replaceable lancet () introduced into said housing, a drive () actuable to drive the lancet momentarily to project its tip from the housing, and a nose portion () having an aperture through which said lancet projects when fired. The nose portion is threadedly engaged () with the forward end () of the housing to allow the penetration depth of said lancet tip to be pre-set, and is resiliently deformable between a position in which it is locked against rotation and a position in which it is free to rotate.

Apparatus for loading into an injection device and comprising a syringe and a boot remover. The syringe has a syringe body, a needle and a boot providing a sterile cover for the needle. The boot remover has a body for substantially enclosing the boot and a lip or lips projecting inwardly to engage a junction between the boot and the syringe body. The boot remover also has, at its widest point, substantially the same outer dimension as, or a smaller outer dimension than, the syringe body. The apparatus can be loaded into an injection device through an opening at a distal end of the device such that, when loaded, a portion of the boot remover projects through a proximal end of the device to facilitate removal of the boot remover and boot by a user. This arrangement allows a user to remove the boot from the syringe by holding and pulling on said grip.

A lancing device includes a main body having a drive spring, hammer, trigger mechanism and a lancet holder. A lancetmay be pushed to engage in snap fit with forwardly extending armsof the lancet holder. Whilst free to move axially, the lancetis held against rotation and, following use, is released from the lancet holder by rotating the lancet holder to disengage the lancet from the forwardly extending armsthus freeing the lancet.

An integrated lancet and testing striplet for measuring a body analyte level in a health care regimen includes a skin piercing member and an analyte sensor coupled together.

Integrated sensor for analyzing biological samples

A skin pricking lancet () comprising a needle (), a body () for holding the needle () and a cap () for shielding at least the tip of the needle (). At least one cap engagement formation () is formed on the body (), and at least one body engagement formation () is formed on the cap (). The body engagement formation () is configured to form a releasable mechanical interlock with the cap engagement formation (), thereby securing the cap () to the body () in the shielded position.

Lancet

A skin pricking apparatus including a casing, a lancetlocated within the casing, a firing buttonarranged to transfer a user applied force to the lancetto drive the lancet through the casing, and lancet retaining elementarranged to substantially prevent movement of the lancetthrough the casinguntil the user applied force exceeds a predefined threshold force.
